I hope it’s been fried or grilled. I cannot abide Spam from the can.

I hadn’t eaten since breakfast. Flew all afternoon and met friends for a party from 7-9. There wasn't anything worth eating at the party - I grabbed a few tortilla chips. Found a Puerto Rican bar next to my hotel. I have no idea what this was called - Chofan, maybe. Fried rice with squid, chicken and shrimp. Fried egg on top. Had a g&t with no lime.

Pan fried. I won't risk eating meat raw if it's processed (like spam). Not worth the risk for food poisoning.

Spam is not raw, and was designed to be safe to be eaten right out of the can(for the military). It is probably the most risk free meat product in the world. Personally, I prefer it fried, but have been known to eat it cold on crackers with or without cheese. I've liked the stuff since I was a kid.
https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Holiday.../6000188760709 Regardless, I would prefer it cooked. I will usually eat it on rice of some sort or MAYBE snack on a slice or two. Still have to try loco moco though. |

SPAM might be (and this one might be as well), but I still don't trust it. There is a small vector where the "key" is inserted to open the can can have a hole...

I call that some sort of fried rice with too much dark soy sauce (or maybe they used some form of squid ink?). Was it any good?
I googled Puerto Rican Chinese Fried Rice. It is a thing and the pictures look like what I was served. |

Once heated, Spam and other meats undergo browning and get that nice crust (due to the Maillard reaction) - is that what you are after?

I found it to be tasty and filling. Very garlicky and gingery. I will need to brush my teeth well in the morning. Yes, lots of soy. There may have been ham as well.

Steak (dinner at Harris') and tried Ostrich for the first time. Not bad and only mildly gamey.

Yum. Then chicken picatta with linguine. We went to get ice cream after & there were maybe 30 people in line and it is freezing out so passed. |

I ate there about a year ago and we all loved it. Unfortunately we were the only people in the place and I was afraid they would fold. Food was delicious . How did you like it?

We'd have gone with the freshly made linguine as well but the waiter was quite proud of his involvement in the production of that day's orecchiette so you can see what we got. David |

Well it hasn't folded. We went because Lyn received a card. Her assessment - a wonderful date place. Agree that the food and the service was excellent. We got there at 4:30 PM and were one of two occupied tables until about 5:30 when more and more folks started showing up.
The challenge of this week's on-shore flow - quite cool and windy. Not simply just the standard night and morning overcast conditions - it is straight up cold. David Avenue A gets overshadowed by Rex & Kalaveras. Glad you enjoyed it. |
I got a burrito bol from Chipotle this evening. Steak, white rice, fajita veggies, hot salsa, sour cream, cheese, guac and lettuce. :tu:
