Decided to stop by my new, favorite dumpling place and got a to-go order of their chicken tikka dumplings. I love spicy food and, while not too spicy, they have just enough to not overpower the tikka sauce.

Bro stopped by with some fried chicken and fries from Walmart.... all I can say is, you're not missing anything..... bland chicken (for those haters, moreso than Costco's) and soggy fries.

Costco has fried chicken?

I'll go for Costco's rotisserie chicken over Walmart's fried chicken any day. I'd go for their fried chicken as well, but don't know the value proposition as I didn't pay for it.

I've always found the roast chicken in the Costco's around here to be very good and much prefer them over the more expensive ones found at Whole Foods. When it comes to fried chicken, my favorite is still KFC!

You would find KFC here disappointing. A number of years back, the Canadian branch decided to cut several of the pieces small so the value proposition went into the toilet. Haven't tried chick fil-a or however they spell it and there are a few small chains we have here, but right now my goto is Popeye's. Prices have gone up everywhere, but their pieces are reasonably sized. That said, I'd rather grab a Costco rotisserie chicken, shred it and make my own meal. If I feel like a shut in, could last me several days, but I usually give some away just to keep it fresh.

Every time I drink champagne I wonder why I don't have it more often. Coco Chanel said she only drank it on two occasions: when she was in love and when she was not.

Tonight we are going to Bavette's. Haven't been there before, heard great things. This will be the exception to my "eating less meat" trend.

Actually, yes - if only to see what Amazon is purveying in the Go concept.

Per se, I'm not the Amazon (or Amazon shopper - that's Mrs.) but so long as you go in identified by either the Amazon app or having a credit card scanned, you pick up whatever you want and then walk out. No additional scanning needed (or so we were told to do).

And when you can get a breakfast sandwich for $3 (on sale) and one of 3 regular sandwiches for $5 (sale as well) - all freshly made to order, you give it a try.

Bavette’s was quite nice. We split the goat cheese baked with tomato sauce, salade Lyonnais (one of my faves), the NY strip steak, fries, and mushrooms. And chocolate cream pie. I decided to further go all in with a Plymouth martini (and blue cheese stuffed olives), a glass of Bordeaux, and a glass of port with dessert.

I don’t think I need to eat ever again.

I'm with you on this one. As I get older, the more I'm realizing Champagne (sparkling wine generally) is my favorite drink. I mean, it's refreshing as an aperitif, fantastic during one's pre & main courses, and it's even great after dinner before the desserts, coffee and brandies/port. It's even great during morning breakfast/brunch and the Mimosa concoction is probably the only time I drink orange juice.

The one in Chicago is one of my favorite steakhouses in the world. The combination of USDA Prime steaks with the French culinary style creates one of those unbeatable gastronomical delights, in my view.

LOL...Fabulous dinner! Wish I had been there and really missing the Chicago steakhouses. IMHO, no city in the world does steak better than Chicago, not even NYC. I recall during one occasion after one of these dinners, I had feasted to a point where I had to return to my hotel room and just sat there motionless for few hours--it was worth it!

IMHO, champagne goes with everything. It helps to solve the conundrum of whether to choose red or white for a particular course. :D
