I had asked EE for pizza suggestions for my upcoming trip to Portugal & Spain. He raved about a place in Lisbon called Lupita. Even though I had been up for about 24 hours, my first stop after checking in to my hotel had to be Lupita. I wasn't sure that i would find time any other day. So I ubered to Lupita & saw a crowd in front of this very old, very tiny restaurant. I was told that the wait was a hour but since I had already paid for an Uber & it was getting late & I wanted to try an EE endorsed pizza I said ok. When my hour was up (& it was lightly raining), I asked when it was coming out....I think they forgot as they acted a bit sheepish. So I had to stand on the street another 10+ minutes. I finally got my pie & they threw in a slice of basque cheesecake which I love for my trouble.
It was delicious & so was the cheesecake. Leftovers of both are in my room fridge for my breakfast. Thanks elevator enthusiast. 🍕 https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5fd98dea9f.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...975f5c7113.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...390a1464bc.jpg pizza is caramelized onion, ricotta, mozzarella, lemon zest, garlic & basil oil. 😛 |

I don't know how EE managed to go a few times but he obviously found the sweet spot with timing. Evenings are not the time. Saw lots of uber eats drivers picking up so maybe if your hotel is close, thats an option.
Dinner a couple nights ago - Moxies Southlake - a ridiculously loud club atmosphere, but the sticky toffee pudding was easily the best I have ever had (so light with wonderful flavor) - the table was unanimous that this was one of the best desserts we had ever had https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ba8c9ce0e.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a7b5da375.jpeg |
Quesadillas y “gringas” con pastor, bistec, y suadero - I’m still not sure which was the bistec and which was the suadero, but my favorite was the pastor with pineapple - Rifados Taqueria, CDMX
Finished the night with some churros (I ordered 2, and they gave me 3) and leche condensada dip at El Moro - unfortunately, they were out of cajeta https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1c1fd12fd.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...dc8be70ea.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4bcf27477.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fe5297ba4.jpeg |

One of my co-workers retired this week after a little over seventeen years with us, so a friend and I took him out to dinner at Grünauer in the Freight House district in KC/MO. I haven't been here since April, 2021, though it was a bit better than I remembered it. Even better was the fast they offered 6% cashback on Upside, I got Fetch points and will get 3xUAL Dining and 3xUR for the meal. :)
We started with the Würstlteller (Choice of two (bratwurst, käsekrainer, bauernwurst) with pickled vegetables, mustard, fresh horseradish & a pretzel). https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1079-L.jpg For my main, I chose the Bauernschmaus (Smoked bone-in pork loin, grilled pork belly, & bauernwurst, served with sauerkraut, potatoes, mustard & creamy horseradish). https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1080-L.jpg My retiring friend had the Schwammerlgulasch (Creamy mushroom gulasch, with bell peppers, onions, & smoked paprika, served with a bread dumpling) https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1081-L.jpg My other friend got Wiener Schnitzel. https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1082-L.jpg For dessert, we shared the apfelstrudel, sachertorte and topfenstrudel. https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1084-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1085-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1086-L.jpg |
I was going back and forth on if I wanted dinner last night, but I ended up deciding on trying out a pizza (lots of my preferred taquerias are closed on Sundays) after walking 15 km or so. Madonna Pizza in Condesa was somewhat odd - the pizza had spicy salami (which wasn’t spicy), honey, and stracciatella. The honey made the whole thing a bit too sweet, and the crust was very thin, making the whole pizza feel a bit like a nacho chip that had been sitting for a few minutes. My walk to my hotel (ordered takeaway) was only 5 minutes, so perhaps the crust thinness caused faster-than-expected heat dissipation.
I think I’ll stick with tacos for today. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...420ceae78.jpeg |
