Chicken soup.

p.s. Something about this thread makes me want to go get pizza for some reason...

Stopped by PepperJax for dinner this evening and got a steak philly with onions, peppers, mushrooms and jalapenos. I also ordered a side of french fries. Haven't eaten here since 2019 and it was just as good as I remember.

House of Prime Rib, SF:

iced tea

house of prime rib cut topped with au jus
included: salad; loaded baked potato; creamed corn; Yorkshire pudding
Note - I ate only the salad, meat, au jus, and Yorkshire pudding. Potato & corn in a to-go bag
extra helping (“seconds”) - included mashed with gravy and creamed spinach, which I ate in full

We had a Flyertalk dinner there several years ago. So good!

Interesting combination. Your own creation?

It was. I'd leftover egg salad from the deli as well as earlier cooked potatoes. Made a potato salad with some diced up homemade pickles and mayo. Decided not to try and intermix the two salads but simply combine in a toasted tortilla. A bit messy but good.

I always put hard boiled eggs in my potato salad so sounds perfectly normal to me.

As do I (and, if I remember to pick some more up, capers). I wanted to finish up the egg salad and didn't want to fuss with figuring out how much potato/diced pickes (since I'm out of capers) to add to the egg to make it into some egg/potato salad combo.

And to be thrifty as well as avoid food waste.

Last night:

I grilled a 3# tri-tip. The father in law is watching sodium so I seasoned with garlic and herb Dash. I liked the result.

I served the sliced beef on “everything” rolls. They were a hit.

But …..

my two sides went over like a lead balloon.

1 the couscous was a little dry. I added chopped dried apricot and sautéed green onion and red bell pepper. I could have tripled the amount. And maybe another quarter cup of chicken broth.

2 sautéed cabbage with chopped apple and onion. Cooked with red wine vinegar and red wine. I thought it was delicious. Mrs BV was not impressed. My father in law is happy with any meal he doesn’t have to cook himself, so I never know how much to believe him.
