I'm starting to see some places give up on takeout/delivery, too. Doesn't surprise me all that much, as more and more people get laid off, they aren't gonna be able to afford even discounted restaurant food.

A local chef, who owns four restaurants, ranging from upscale Southwestern, upscale seafood, and a wings place, has been doing family style meals, something like $40 for a family of four. I read an article that said he cut his staff from 86 people down to about 12, and he's not sure he's gonna be able to cover the next payroll.

One of my boys just got laid off when corporate closed the Ruby Tuesday where he manages. They had been doing takeout. One of my other sons is working in the only restaurant in a small group (maybe 5-10) that the owners have kept open. They do curb side with 2 employees. The group also owns a grocery store that remains open.

Locally I haven’t seen anyone give up yet (Ruby Tuesday in the Villages is still operating) but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

We have agreed that we will place a curb side pickup order this Friday with my favorite local restaurant. I’m expecting a bill with tax and tip of around $100-120 for the three of us, more if my FIL wants a martini.

Do you really have a restaurant that's offering curb side martinis? If so, that's awesome :)

I love what this restaurant/bar owner is doing in Scottsdale -- she has two venues, one of them just opened. She has an amazing following. So when all this hit, she hired a band (the weather is divine in the phoenix area right now) and she has take-out. The lines of cars snaked all around the parking lot. Soul Cafe

They relaxed the laws, recognizing I guess that restaurants net a lot of their bottom line from the bar. Even 50% off makes restaurant wine prices too high for take out compared to stopping at the wine shop on the way home. My father in law has eaten at this one place every Friday night for the last year. He is particular about his martinis. I would never dare make one for him. We are thinking about Mexican this week. I plan to request a pitcher of margaritas.

I haven't seen martinis here, but there are definitely some places selling take-away mixed cocktails. I have no idea how they're packaging them, but I'd imagine as long as they're sealed properly it's legal. Of course some places are just doing liquor delivery too...unopened bottles of beer, wine, and liquor.

Looking at the video, it reminds me of a slightly more spread out version of tailgating. Groups of people hanging out next to their cars, others walking by or dancing around. That seems to be exactly what the state governments are trying to avoid by closing restaurants and other public gathering places.

Normally, I would agree with this statement, but not in this instance. Our favorite upscale restaurant always allows us to bring our own wine, without paying a corkage fee. Last Friday, we ordered takeout from them, including a bottle of wine at regular price, even though we have a LOT of wine in our home. I’ll do the same next time we go there, also. We wanted to show our appreciation and, also, give them additional revenue. We want to support them as we would absolutely hate to lose this restaurant.

My local city started allowing alcohol, including wine and premixed cocktails, to go during the mandated shutdown period. One of my local independent restaurants said they'll make enough money off this to double the workers they'll be able to keep on payroll. I don't mind paying the markup in order to support local businesses, especially given that most liquor stores in my area are closed (and my go-to Napa vineyard sure seems to be taking its sweet time fulfilling my last order).

Unfortunately, in the past week two more of my usual restaurants that had tried to survive through the takeout-only period have decided to close.
