Let's fatten up those kids those kids more, now that more and more outdoor activity is being kiboshed.

I tried ordering Carbone on Caviar last night. Waited 4 hours and the food never showed up. I think restaurants that have never done delivery before are to be avoided, despite good intentions - I simply do not think they are set up for it.

Judging by the scene in this picture from Carbone, you may be right! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...t-Carbone.html

I think the point is that kids who receive reduced cost and free school lunches are not receiving those now.

Local schools are packing breakfast and lunch for all students for pickup. This is not unique to our area and is happening in other states. The local district does not charge any student for breakfast or lunch.

Perhaps an idea to do take-out more often than usual during these trying times as to help small businesses cope?
|
Here in Atlanta, I do not care what closes, as Waffle House will always be reliable and open for business. When they close, that's when I'll actually be worried :D

Someone in my neighborhood proposed this sort of idea, I think it's a good one as I don't need to cook or hoard food and they'll make a little cash from me.

a lot of Casual sf restaurants are converting to take-out but I fear it’ll be a tiny band aid. I don’t know how this’ll make up for the lost volume, especially if they are in a commercial lease. I’m also suddenly able to do more cooking than ever before and I can not justify paying for restaurant food except for French fries. Costco sells too many prepared meals that are too cheap compared to takeout. And we already know how much sodium and sugar is used in restaurants, and with less access to doctors (who have bigger diseases to treat), I feel more responsible for lowering risk of any illness.
Many chain restaurants are actually small local businesses. McAlister's Deli is a chain across multiple states but most locations are locally owned franchises. The same is true many other casual and fast food restaurants. All the restaurants have local employees. |

Without some rent forgiveness (not deferral, but forgiveness) many places will just tank. Without material booze sales (I say material, because state law is now allowing the booze to go, so long as food is ordered), at best, they're in a break even situation.
We have agreed that we will place a curb side pickup order this Friday with my favorite local restaurant. I’m expecting a bill with tax and tip of around $100-120 for the three of us, more if my FIL wants a martini. We will continue that every Friday as long as it’s possible, although we may have to alternate with my father-in-law’s favorite. |

I am supporting my local brewery, although they do not sell food. The brewery is their side business. I was told they could close down for 6 months without much impact. The rent and labor cost is covered. They are electrical contractors. I am planning 4 growler fills a week.
