A month ago that would have scared me.

Louisiana restaurants can only offer take out, delivery or drive thru now.

I don't think enough people will be deterred. My father, on the other side of the state from me and 70 in about a month, went out for groceries yesterday, even though they are well stocked. I know in a day or two, he'll want to go out to dinner, etc.

I don't know who started it or who followed, but God Bless them both. I read that McAllisters Deli and Subways in S. Illinois are dealing with the state school closings by providing a sack lunch sandwich and chips to any child who shows up. (Take out of course). No questions asked and no purchased required.

Gives me faith in America!

Our entire region is on near-quarantine. Take out / delivery only. I have a feeling that most that are doing take out will do so until they run out of food, and then shut for the remainder.

I got an email from a brewery in Miami advertising curb side pick up service. Food and beer to go. I wish it was closer.

All bars and restaurants in the Canadian province of Ontario have been ordered closed except for take out and drive-thru under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

While restaurants are allowed to provide take out and delivery in Pennsylvania, a few of our local restaurants have opted to close for at least the next two weeks.

You believe they're just using up surplus and not taking any new deliveries? I hope that's not the case, but I could see it happening. It puts even more people out of work (restaurants, but also people working the supply chain), and takes away another source of food for everyone else at a time when grocery stores can't stay stocked due to irrational hoarding.

Personally, if I owned a restaurant, and determined I could continue to at least break even with takeout/delivery only, I'd keep it open. Better to keep my employees and not have to either 1) start over after this has passed, hire all new people or 2) go out of business.

In Chicago, some of the higher end restaurants have closed down. They can likely afford to. I haven't heard any rumblings of "stay open until we're out of food" but the next few days might be interesting.

I have a funny feeling that's what my favorite craft beer bar in Houston is doing, at least in part. Right now they're advertising "grocery bundles" including eggs, chips, salsa, cheese, couple pounds of chicken wings, stuff to make salad. Really odd to see! This is addition to their regular full food menu, to be fair.

I tried ordering Carbone on Caviar last night. Waited 4 hours and the food never showed up. I think restaurants that have never done delivery before are to be avoided, despite good intentions - I simply do not think they are set up for it.

Good personal rule, I agree. Even if it shows up, it may not be very good. And honestly, some of these restaurants just don't make food that's meant to travel in a closed container for 20 mins. Some foods travel well and some don't. It's why, even before now, I never order burgers for delivery, although that's a common offer. I might risk takeout with some though -- at least I know the food isn't sitting in a backseat while 4 other stops are made on the way to my house.

Burger King will begin providing two free kids meals with each adult meal purchased, starting next week.

I put in a take-out order of Indian food from my favorite pub. When I arrived the proprietor suggested a pint of Wellington SPA while I waited. It would have been rude to turn him down. I left a 50 percent tip. :)
