I'm a CA native. In-n-out is consistently pretty good, but definitely very over rated. I'm surprised that it is on the tourist check list. I've had better burgers at Carl's Jr and Burger King. In-n-out is just different.

Welllll, "de gustibus..."

I must admit, the *only* meat product I've had in the past three weeks--it's typical for me to follow a largely non-animal diet, for cholesterol-lowering purposes--has been a one-a-week In-N-Out burger, once even with fries, woo-hoo!.:)
For the next month I'll follow that same schedule, because it fits my work routine, and because I can get one-per-week for free (don't ask.)
But it's economics and convenience that are driving my lunch plans: I too, admittedly with my limited credentials as a hambuergueur critic, think INO is 'waaaaaaay overrated. Yes, 'waaaay, mostly due to the consistently tasteless patty. (Poor Patty, she has no taste, whatever!:D)
Enjoy the onions, amazed to see whole fresh potatoes being peeled and hand-pressed though the fry-cutter (as opposed to the more typical bag of frozen, pre-cut tubers being dumped into a fryer.) Appreciate the crunch afforded by a toasted bun, and of fresh lettuce, though the tomato slices are tasteless.
Did I mention 'waaaaaay overrated?
I did?
Well then I must mean it!

In-N-Out is pretty good. My favorite is Rush's in Columbia, SC and I also really, really like the burgers at Red Robin.

it is very delicious. my brother and I flew into LAX last week, rented a car and drove out to PSP for the Coachella music festival. My brother had already printed out map quest directions from LAX to a nearby In and Out then onward to our hotel in Palm Springs. This was after the 4 course meal we had eaten on our way out there. ridiculous :D

Hmmmm..... what are the ingredients in Animal style fries...?

slomrtwo May 3, 2009 12:13 am

My opinion of their fries changes each time I have them. Though they are always horrible if more than 5 minutes old :p

Insiderdude May 3, 2009 12:48 am

Just had a Double-double, animal-style, protein style - with fries for dinner. They are by far, the best. yum!

New In-n-Outers...Note this extremely important fact. This is my main problem with In-n-Out-It makes poor takeout food since the fries get terrible quickly. Otherwise, its delicious :)^

Absolutely true comment. I wish you could order them without the calories though ;)
