The best burger I've ever had was a grilled cheese from In-N-Out... a cheeseburger sans meat. Add some french fries animal-style too. ^

But I won't go out of my way for it.

Anyone who loves In-N-Out needs to eat at any one of the myriad of Los Angeles area Greek owned burger joints that In-N-Out attempts to copy in a chain situation.

In-N-Out is good, and their toasted buns are among the best in the business, but overall, they only imitate the best.

I was always a diehard In-n-Out fan but I hadn't had one in almost a year until Monday.

Not as good as I remembered it.

Either that or living in Fort Worth again where we have so many amazing local burger joints doing battle (one even owned by an Iron Chef winner) that my palette has readjusted.

I could barely finish the burger at In-n-Out... was just not impressed anymore.

It is that good. You need to know how to order the food properly though. Most of the people who say it isn't that good, don't know what to really order.

I might not be able to order right, but IMHO In-N-Out burgers are nothing special. I think SteaknShake or Culvers blow them away with no secrets hand shakes involved...

My secretary says Yes!!! But only if you get animal style.

My calendar has the number of days marked until I get to go to In-N-Out again.

I like five guys. I get the seasoned fries. I don't like fries just salted and in-N-out fries are just blah.

I also like the toppings that can be put on a five guys burger with no additional charge.

I like mine dry (no sauce) with cheese and a tiny bit of mustard, protein style. You can really taste the flavor of their fresh, delicious beef.

I actually probably prefer Culvers, then In-N-Out beats Steak 'n' Shake as far as I'm concerned (maybe it's just the locations I've seen, full of noisy kids and generally not too clean), but there's not a lot of geographic overlap among them.

I have to quit getting the grilled onions, just induces heartburn for me. :(

For fast food I think Five Guys is overpriced.

Double-double animal style with extra grilled onion is the way to go.

Fries animal style is heart attack in a box.

Fries well done is definately the way to go - much better that way.
