For all the denials around here it is the most popular ground coffee in the US.
I have found that of the cheaper brands it seems to work best when I fill my own K-cups. I can stand the taste but like all sorts of different coffees.
Trivia: Heiress to the Folger fortune Abagail was one of the Manson murder victims in 1969.

I generally buy the beans and ground them myself. So no I would not enjoy the taste of a Folger's. However I can drink it of course, it's just not as nice as home ground.

It's funny this thread even exists. Starbucks has fooled a generation (maybe two!) into thinking that over-roasted beans make good coffee. Which makes perfect sense when it's being mixed with lots of milk and syrups in Starbucks' drinks. But now people have come to think that type of over-roasted coffee is superior to a lighter roast. Probably had something to do with teenagers thinking the strong taste meant it had more caffeine too.
Plain Starbucks coffee is fine, but given a choice I'd probably take Folger's every time, especially at the lower price. If I'm having a double-shot caramel macchiatto whatever, I prefer the stronger bitter Starbucks roast.

I do. I've experimented with a lot of the different brands of ground coffee for sale at the grocery store: Dunkin Donuts, Gevalia etc. but my favorite for my coffee pot at home and my one at work is Folger's Black Silk. This doesn't mean I don't appreciate a good cup of coffee, but to fill my Contigo for the drive to work and for my mug at work to keep me going, the Folger's works pretty well.

Yep, just a good quality (not highest quality) pre-ground. I would say comparable to Douwe Egberts, which you mentioned earlier. I mainly drink Eight O'Clock coffee which is a regional U.S. brand which again is just a good affordable coffee.

Grew up on Yuban. My mom had fresh coffee on from Morning till night. Made it strong, too. I miss it. I grew into a Starbucks French roast fan.

Yes, this is the biggest issue for me. The quality doesn't equal the price, and it's not only that you can get the same quality for less, you can actually get better coffee for less. But in the U.S. they are THE cool brand for coffee, where the brand has become synonymous with the product -- "Let's go get a Starbucks".
