This is a tough one to answer - mainly because I really enjoy trying things I haven't had before, so I will rarely order the same thing, even if it's at a restaurant I've been to previously. I think the only items I can say I have unabashedly ordered when it's on the menu are a) foie gras terrine or torchon (give me a block of it with some slices of toasted brioche anytime, please), or b) bone marrow. Both are fatty and decadent by meat standards, so I guess that's a common theme, but I really enjoy both of these items immensely. The best torchon I've had to date was at Juni in New York City, while the best bone marrow would be at Bibou in Philadelphia. And the most interesting (and over-the-top decadent) use of either was when I had foie gras-infused Nutella at Black Hoof in Toronto.

Prime Rib and it's getting harder and harder to find. Last time was at The Prime Rib in Baltimore and it wasn't that great but I'm willing to try again.

Seared ahi is an automatic. Also, I'm a sucker for chicken and waffles; there was a place near my alma mater that served it's chicken and waffles coated in crushed Cinnamon Toast Crunch for brunch alongside penny mimosas.

El Cardenal in Mexico City? I used to work a couple of blocks from the one on Alameda Central in the Hilton - ordered the escamoles there once.

My favorite place for those is still the Antigua Hazienda de Tlalpán. They've got the best gusanos de maguey as well.

I didn't make it south of Coyoacan very often, unless I was on my way to Cuernavaca. Will have to check out this place next time I'm in DF.

I am amazed how many people still think it's OK to eat Foie Gras. I know it tastes amazing as I tried it more than 20 years ago, but it's right up there with unethical foods. Just sayin'...

I can enjoy it without thinking about the goose. Think too much and you'll end up a vegan and miss all the fun.
