While I don´t particularly like it as a shot, Is one of my favourite drinks with Coke.
Here in Argentina (particularly in the Cordoba region) is very popular. I´m not a porteńo per-se, but It is becoming increasingly popular in bars and pubs in Buenos Aires.
Personally, it is my drink of choice for the pre BBQ "picadas".
The way I drink it: tall drink glass, 3 or 4 ice cubes, 1/3 fernet, 2/3 Coke (please, no Diet Coke or Coke Zero).
Just my 2 cents there...

If you must have Fernet, please note it must be Branca. Any other branded stuff just isnt the same.

There may be others, but they pale beside the "Real Deal"!

Next, some FTer will be extolling the benefits of Punt e Mes.

Finally tried a shot of Fernet Branca after a big meal the other night. It's a lot like adding bitters to extra strong Listerine. I won't be repeating the experience.

My first (and only) experience of Fernet was in Argentina a few years ago where I had it topped up with coke. Suffice to say, I'm not in a rush to have it again!

Sorry I'm not able to manage a link from my phone, but wanted to mention a hilarious farce of a novel called "Cooking with Fernet Branca"!

A glass of Fernet Branca and 7up with ice is a lovely refreshing drink on a hot day and sets me up for the Reserva San Juan later after dinner.

I like fernet after a big steak. I think it breaks down the protein faster.

I'm a big fan of Fernet. It's making a huge comeback (at least in MKE). I see it all over the place, a couple of bars I frequent have a $5 deal of a shot of Fernet and cheap beer. One bar does the SFO style of giving a ginger beer chaser with a shot.

And while it's mostly Fernet Branca, I've started seeing Leatherbee Fernet also. It's a Chicago based distiller.

Oh dear, I can't stand Fernet. Even though is amazingly popular in my home country, Argentina, mixed with Coca Cola, and all of my friends love it, I can't get past the fact that it tastes exactly the same as licking aluminium.

I was actually surprised to find out every bar / pub in Scandinavia seems to stock it. Alas, they would almost without exceptions serve it in shots.

On the other hand, I have to admit being a BrancaMenta fan. I know it's hideous, but try it with Sprite, it's a one-way road.
