As a non-German, I second Jagerhaus in Anaheim, CA.

Also, while not a full-service restaurant, Mattern's in Orange, CA, a mom-and-pop German deli, serves superior sandwiches and sausages.

Some quick maintenance ... there were a few new suggestions since the last update, so I updated the list of favorite German restaurants on page 1.

Thanks for the suggestions and affirmations. Enjoy!

Really? I went there a few weeks ago after reading decent reviews on Yelp. The food was average at best and the service was terrible. I ordered a mineral water and the bottle they brought me was a totally different size and brand as the one on the menu and was flat. I looked at the expiration date and it had expired over a year before! I didn't even know water expired. I flagged down a waiter and they brought me a new bottle... which had expired a year and a half prior. And they still charged me for it. If they are handing out stuff that old with expiration dates, what are they serving that isn't so obvious? Plus the food just isn't very good.

I wouldn't recommend Jagerhaus in Anaheim to anyone.

It's campy but if I'm driving to northern Michigan or the upper peninsula I stop at the Bavarian Inn and then waddle or roll back to my car after. http://bavarianinn.com/

Has anyone been to the Austrian-style restaurant called Seasonal in Midtown Manhattan? I'm curious as to its quality/authenticity.

Suppenkuche hands down. (I can't believe that those Portland places are on the same list.)
