Breakfast-time in the Airport
Anyone else not partial to breakfast food?
Every once in a while, I like to go out for a nice breakfast, but for the most part, I'm not a big eater of "breakfast food"... and especially not in the airport...or in the airplane either for that matter.
So it irritates me to no end, that the majority of airport food places only want to serve you breakfast food in the morning.
Is it just me?
This morning at DEN, I passed by several places that only served breakfast items, before I got to Schlotzky's .. who made me a real sandwich.

I love breakfast though good ones are few & far between
That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the bacon, egg & cheese sandwich ordered at DTW's Cheeburger Cheeburger.
They actually cooked up fresh eggs to order ^^^ rather thanf using some prefab, yellow hockey puck excuse for an egg.

If you can brave Terminal A at IAD, there's a 5 Guys that serves fresh eggs. You can see them cracking the eggs. They also will make you a burger.
Missy, does Alaska even fly to IAD?

Also, I've already been up a few hours by the time I'm in the terminal. Time for real food. I think SFO may have a few savory options but I rarely eat in the early morning. (Maybe a bowl of congee?) I usually save my appetite for the domestic F onboard gourmet breakfast dining

As for the topic of the thread... I too despise breakfast unless its fresh made buttermilk pancakes with moose sausage... that's yummah!
When I was in DEN last month, with jackal and alphaeagle we were hungry off the red-eye. Sadly the Panda Express in Terminal A was closed or only serving Breakfast... however the Panda Express right past the AS checkin (I think before security) was open
so jackal and I had Chinese for breakfast
(I did this two weeks in a row a couple years ago in SLC at 10 AM too

As for breakfast foods, I'm a fan at any time of the day. I love love LOVE breakfast sandwiches (homemade ones, not greasy take out ones) and often make them for lunch or dinner on the weekends. Toasted english muffin, low fat cheese, one egg cooked perfectly, and a few slices of lean ham... mmm...

I loves me some brekkie, but not so much outside home, unless its some place like The Magnolia Cafe or Kerbey Lane Cafe or Ken's Subs, Tacos, and More. Unfortunately for all of us, none of these fine Austin breakfast eateries are available at the airport...ABIA or otherwise.
I will occasionally go for Mickey D's if pushed into it because of a time crunch, but facing the unknown, I would probably opt for a bagel with cream cheese and/or some yogurt with fruit. For some reason, a lunch or dinner alternative really doesn't appeal to me before 11:30 AM.

I am that rarest of persons who doesn't eat eggs or cheese (no allergies or philosophical arguments, I just don't like them), so this is a recurring pet peeve of mine. The smell of a cooking egg can actually make me physically ill. Breakfast while traveling for me consists mainly of fruit or whatever muffins or scones Starbucks happens to be selling.
Breakfast time on a plane tends to be pure torture -- even the sight of a cream cheese crepe can make me uncomfortable. That's actually one time when I'd rather be in Y with no meal service.

fwiw, the 5 Guys at LGA (landside) is also open early & serves breakfast ( and probably burgers too)
At IAD, I finally had their bacon, egg & cheese sandwich and it came soooooo close to excellent (fresh, hot & with crispy fresh cooked bacon).
Sadly, it fell short of perfection as it's not served up on a kaiser roll, which is imo the way it should be.
