You can get vaccinated. No such remedy other than avoidance works for the McRib.

I'll have to have one McRib during the promotion (extra onions, no pickles) but I'd prefer to not get the flu at all this season.

If getting punched in the stomach was available for a promotional rate, would you do it? Similarly, finding McRib sandwiches on a promotion makes them no more attractive to me than if they cost $50 each. I had one McRib in my life. That was more than sufficient.

Agree. Had one on a business trip a long time ago. Nasty.

What do you think this is, Burger King? You can't have it your way!

Sure you can. McDonald's gave up on the "no microwaves" thing about 20 years ago. I was managing a McDonald's when we got our first microwave. Before that you'd just have to wait for the sandwich was made fresh (the McRib's were grilled and then put in a bain-marie pot filled with barbecue sauce.

What made me laugh was that the employees were not allowed to call it a microwave -- it was known as a "Q-ing" oven. Good times (actually, they were in a lot of ways -- too bad I really couldn't make a real well-paying career out of it).

After McRib season, I'd always end up with a gallon or two of the barbecue sauce.

They only sell them during the promotion. And to each their own.

Why would they be attractive were they to cost $50 each?

They wouldn't be. I'd find them inedible at any price.

I definitely would expect extra pickles and a crustier bun. And they had better comp my drink and fries.

The joys of Fall.

I'll have to make a run to McD's, if I remember how to get there.

Just get on a highway and take the next exit.

Right.

I remember when I was a kid and we had to drive 25 miles to get a McDonald's Happy Meal. Now there's 4-5 McDonald's between my childhood home and that McDonald's we went to (which I ended up managing 15 years later). Out of all the McDonald's out there, that one was one of the first 1000 in the world.

Today I'm about 3 minutes from my local one -- we're in a town of about 5000 people and we have a McDonald's, Burger King, Culvers, Jimmy John's, Subway, and Arby's all within a minute or two of the others.

Went in and got the MCRib.. It was loaded with onions and tasted different than the last time.. I think it was lacking the sauce... Will have to get it again, maybe at a different McDonalds.

Much less sauce and lot more onions! When McRibs first came out in the 80s it was loaded with bbq sauce -- I remember seeing them take it out of the pan dripping in bbq sauce -- these days, its prob just a smattering on the rib. If you ask me, I would pay $1 more for double the rib (which is getting softer/less meat tasting every time they bring it out)!
