Now, If I could have a McRib with a side of Wendy's fries, and a fresh A&W rootbeer....

And the foreseeable future is today.

You think WE'RE bad? The McRib periods require CBP to add extra staff at all of the Canadian land crossings.

So far I only had 3 McRibs. If I really want to I can have it daily.. Since its not additive ;) I probably will have 1 more before it disappears.

Actually they are, and not terribly unhealthy.

You hang your head.
You hang your head in shame!

I for one can't wait for the $5 20 piece nuggets, and $1 six piece nuggets. The sweet chilli is great.

Serious question: when did the McRib move from a nasty, failed product of the 1980's to a pop culture icon?

No, really. Remember back then? This thing was terrible and everybody made fun of it until it was discontinued.

Then it was completely gone for what seemed like a whole generation. I don't recall seeing it in the 90's anywhere in the world, U.S. or elsewhere.

Only in the past few years do I recall the media buzz about the McRib, complete with stories of expats flying home to get them, morning talk radio shows holding contests to give them away, the Internet buzzing wildly about them, etc.

What changed? Oh, I went and got one today at lunch. Sort of tasty I suppose, but it's not like it's Oklahoma Joe's... :)

Personally, I liked the McRib's more in the late 80s / early 90s. I remember making them. They're just pork patties submerged in BBQ sauce with pickles and onions. I like them but don't get the extreme hatred OR extreme love.

I was very excited to see McNuggets do not contain egg ingredients anymore. Now Miss Swede has four items she can eat off the menu (hamburger, McNuggets, fries, and apple pie).

I would love to do the same, but the entire time I'm eating them I'd be thinking "1000 calories, 52g fat."

Is Pepsi available only at previously owned Pepsi companies, like Taco bell, KFC and Pizza Hut?

na, some bars are pepsi only products, I know one in particular that is all pepsi except they don't have diet pepsi, only diet coke in cans.

 diet pepsi is so much better.

tonypct Nov 10, 2011 1:31 pm

That McRib looks NOTHING like the one I had at my local McDonalds once. I thought it was pretty bland. This one looks delicious!

I like Pepsi restaurants because they usually have Diet Sierra Mist and Diet Mountain Dew, as well. Diet Coke restaurants usually only have Diet Coke, which I prefer to Diet Pepsi, BTW.

I always order mine without pickle, I figure that probably knocks 200 calories or so off.

Was at McD last night. I wasn't in the mood for the McRib so I got the 20 piece nuggets. After reading this thread I got the sweet chili sauce. And Its better than buffalo and creamy ranch sauce they have.

Had a sighting of an advertisement at the local macdos tonight for the mcrib. It may be back. It might not be.

The guy behind me must have heard that it was back and was so excited to see if he could order one I got rear-ended. *grumbles*

McDonald’s McRib: Why Are They Making Us Wait?

I should be chowing down on McRibs by now.

------------------
...
But according to a leaked memo, devotees now have extra time to drum up more anticipation for the white whale of novelty fast food sandwiches. Ad Age acquired a memorandum from McDonald’s Operators National Advertising Fund which stated that the barbecue pork-flavored sandwich will now be available in late December instead of its original Oct. 22 through Nov. 11 limited-time release.

According to the Ad Age report, the McRib launch had been moved back to help give end-of-year sales a boost — but perhaps the cruel delay will anger McRibbians into boycotting it. Who are we kidding, they’ll probably stockpile them, just in case.
