I have not heard that it's back for good. I read somewhere that McD's only brings back the McRib when pork prices are low, which they have been for much of 2020. Seems odd, given that they never stop serving beef and chicken regardless of what those markets do. Maybe hogs are more volatile?

Yeah Baby ... life is better with McRib !!

Looks like its been spotted (Dec 01) about 15 min from where I work ... need to head there next week !

Totally forgot that is was back until I drove by my local store that had a large window ad stating such. Pulled in and got 2 for the road. The Double Drive-thru had 8 cars in each lane before the speaker, so went inside to find one person waiting in line. Ordered and still had to wait 10 minutes as they were totally out of cooked Rib Patties. The wait was well worth it. 😋

I've already had two. I do prefer mine with no onions, and usually order via the app so that I don't have to explain "no onions" because they don't get it right half the time. Last time they made it with onions and no pickles. Whatever, picked the onions off and it was still good. Oddly though, I like the Kwik Trip version better. They tend to give the patty a bit of "burnt ends" and it almost tastes a bit better.

Anyway, glad its back.

I used a bogo app offer for 2 McRibs

I haven't had one in probably 10 years. The problem I have/had with it is that it's totally drenched in (a not good) BBQ sauce. It makes for a drippy, slippery mess. It would be so much better if there was just a light glaze of BBQ sauce. The raw onions also ruin it.

I always order without onions. You can ask for them to not put sauce on it and just get the bbq on the side, also never an issue.

Thank you for that tip. Of course, the drive-thru cashier couldn't figure out how to make it plain, BBQ on the side, and no onions. So I got two plain McRibs with BBQ sauce in little plastic cups--and without onions or pickles. Oh well.

Anyways, being able to control just how much BBQ sauce you can put on it was a game-changer. For the second sandwich, I poured on some habanero BBQ sauce from a local BBQ restaurant. It was even better. The BBQ sauce cups did go well with the fries.

Next time, I'll just ask for no BBQ sauce and no onions and apply my own BBQ sauce at home.

No BOGO here, but the app here had a free drink and fries with sandwich purchase.

For some reason they didn't remove the onions as requested, but worse yet, they put on diced burger onions on it, so in an attempt to remove the onions it took off most of the BBQ sauce too. Oh well, can't win every time.

Did the McD app buy one get one free and just pounded down 2

Yummy ... wish the sauce was a little more tangy !

im-headed-west Dec 27, 2020 12:43 pm

McRib 2 for 1 daily deal has been active on the McD App for aleast the last week+ ... very dangerous !!

im-headed-west Nov 3, 2021 9:19 am

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year .... cause McRib is back !!!

Pounded down 2 for lunch ... No BOGO on the app, just 2 for $6, so downloaded the app (which had been deleted) and used a free sandwich coupon ... bought a second full price.

They still need to make the sauce a bit more tangy, but McRibs were pretty good

These used to be sooooooooo good back in the day. I had one this year and was not impressed. I had one last year and was not impressed. I used to like these so much that I tried to get ILUVTOFLY to talk to his friend at McDonalds to make this a permanent menu item. I'll probably have another one next year but they don't bring me the joy they once used to.

pseudoswede Nov 10, 2022 10:46 am

I don't believe for one second that this the very last time the McRib will be offered...but I bought two yesterday. Yikes, talk about tiny.

Is there any chance that your taste buds have become more sophisticated? I remember as a child my favourite food was Chinese takeaway in the Netherlands.

I still have never tried one of these---I guess the pressure is on now. So they shrunk them (like so many other foods out there) too?

They keep getting discontinued before I can get around to trying them. Was it early /mid'80s that it came out? I still lament the disappearance of the $2 for 2 Big Macs.

Despite all the coupon offers that get into my mailbox every 2-3 months, I find McDs costs way too much in my neck of the woods.

What's odd is that while the meat of the sandwich has shrunk just a little, it feels like the bun has shrunk a good 40%.

Shrinking the bun makes the meat look bigger?

I tried one. I don't get the hype. It's fake smokey flavour with an overly sweet BBQ sauce. Give me a double quarter pounder any day of the week over the McRib.

teddybear99 Nov 13, 2022 2:45 am

I worked for McD's when they first came out many eons ago. There used to be 2 versions, the other with a Sweet & Sour Sauce. Once the Meat was cooked, it was put into the Sauce immediately and held there, allowing the meat to absorb the flavor of the sauce into the patty. Tonight, I actually went inside to pick up my app order and watched how they are put together now. There is a tray of Sauce held in the holding bin to keep it warm, and the meat patty, after cooked, is placed into another tray. When a sandwich is ordered, they take the patty from the tray, drain the excess fat it is sitting in, dip it into the sauce tray and place it on the bun with the pickles and onions.

I believe that is why it no longer tastes the same as it did years ago. I used to look forward to having it and would go multiple times a week to get one, but no longer. Also, the price point of $4.89 just for the sandwich is a little too steep for me. I am a cheap person, so I used the deals in the app to buy cheaper stuff when I want to eat there now.

Off topic, but I wish the special sandwiches would be available in the app. We recently had a Chicken Big Mac, but could not order it through the app, so I never got to try it. Also, the Cheddar Melt (Qtr Lb. with Cheddar Cheese Sauce and grilled onions on a Rye styled bun) was another favorite limited time sandwich I liked. But, due to dumbing down the kitchen to make it easier to produce sandwiches quickly, it will not be brought back.

Save yourself some time & money, don't bother to try one this year.

I tried one recently and the only ok ingredient were the pickles, everything else about it was horrible. LIke yourself, I can't believe I used to really enjoy McRibs

My app lists the limited time specials and collab meals such as the smoky BLT quarter pounder.

I hope not. LOL I still enjoy my junk food now and then. Just think the McRib has steadily gone downhill throughout the years, Extra pickles and no onions for me. Personally, I wouldn't try to eat it in the car as the patty can get slippery.
