Seems like people really want to have meat as their last meal. Except for some sweet tea here and there....

A chargrilled burger, cooked medium rare, topped with applewood smoked bacon and maytag blue cheese. Perfectly cooked french fries with a bit of mayo for dipping. Pliny the Elder to drink.

Toss-up between JT Farnham's (Essex, MA) fried clams, and Boston's North End Pizzeria Regina. Let me think about how to break the tie

I guess we want to remind ourselves we're pretty much the top of the food chain before we die and revert to the bottom.

And for me, the "something" would be a couple of really crusty baguettes from pretty much any respectable boulangerie in Paris, accompanied by plenty of Saint Marcellin cheese and a bottle or two of Chateauneuf du Pape.

Eaten on a mild fall day, sitting on a bench in some small obscure park in Paris while watching the world go by.

______________

Sweet tea? Seriously?

First some nice sweet fruits for an appetizer, giant Driscoll strawberries, blueberries and super sweet Costa Rican mangoes and pineapple. Then a beautiful aged rib eye, ala carbon, medium.

Beverage would be a nice super chilled spring water, maybe with a real Coke (sugar version only), later on.

A side of baked macaroni and cheese to go with the steak. Heavy baked cheese crust, with a sprinkling of Romano on top.

A dessert plate with a Jaimito special pie, mixed Banana cream and Coconut cream pie. A neverending See's chocolate box with plenty of Rum nougat, California brittle (dark and milk), Scotchmallows and almost everything else that doesn't have peanuts.

And then to finish off, just one wafer thin mint...

Oysters and mussels. I love them, but sometimes they don't love me back. But so what if I were to shuffle off this mortal coil.
