Tomorrow, I'll drink this the way I usually do. A hint of water and a couple of ice cubes for sipping.

Who knows. Maybe this is meant to be chugged?

The first time I saw DB I ignored it as i ignore all the poor JW blends, no matter how expensive they are. Then my pusher at LHR T3 urged me to try it blind. I liked all three of the Islays, except that one was DB!
How could that be?

As I have already said DB is now my daily tipple primarily because of the regular $35-40 prices I find in Duty Free shops.

However, last night I finished my last remaining bottle of Signatory bottled Port Ellen 1979 (I thought it was all gone and was overjoyed to find this one, preserved with the wine vacuum system I use for Whisky). Without a doubt that remains the finest whisky I have ever tasted. Now if I can sneak out to buy another bottle, a bargain now at only US$352 :eek:

stumbled across a site that lets you compare prices of duty free items along your route. Might be helpful for some. They are still in Beta (work in progress..) so are missing destinations, and product offering not complete, but a nice conncept. www.dutyfreebee.com

Double Black popped up at my Costco this weekend. $32 for 750ml.

I just received an e-mail from Johnnie Walker... Looks like the Platinum label will be available in the USA shortly.

I've not seen Platinum over here in NAmerica yet, but the Explorer series has been popping up in airport Duty Frees around the continent, USA and Canada, not sure about Mexico.

no, it's just a bolder smokier version of black. still not as good as everything else except red, which nobody should be drinking anyway.

Platinum is out in NYC. Not something I would purchase as there are tons of better options at the $100 price point...but I do expect I'll come into a bottle during the holidays.

Not a JW drinker here either (I keep one or two Blue's on hand for parties), but the Double Black (from Costco after seeing it in the Duty Free's around the world) is quite enjoyable. :)

I'm a single malt guy, but the price can add up. Double Black, which continues to be a steal at Costco, is a reasonable substitute for those occasions when I don't feel like breaking out the good stuff.

What's the CostCo price? 750ml or litre bottle?
