Parent company Diageo has decided to test market that beer in New York City and Atlanta beginning in September. No word on when they'll make a decision about whether on not to offer the beer nationwide, but I wouldn't expect to see it outside those areas before 2011, probably the second quarter of next year at the earliest.
I was about to fly to NYC for a couple of 6 packs and called Diageo to confirm this was true. Unfortunately, a rep said they are not testing it.

Here's a September 28, 2010 Diageo press release about Foreign Extra Stout in the U.S.

I have two cases of it at home right now, I brought them back from the British Virgin Islands. It's ok, but I keep it for visit.

Interesting: I posted on the 29th and called Diageo somewhere around the 27, 28 or 29th (I should check my cell phone). The rep I talked to seemed very sharp but apparently missed or was not aware this was coming.

This news is even better because instead of testing in 2 areas, Foreign Extra Stout will be sold all over.

Thanks for the info and I will look for it.

I went to a beer tasting at the Harley Davidson Museum at MKE in early September and they had Foreign Extra Stout available. Never was a big fan of it, prefer Guinness Draught. My cousins in Kenya tend to mix it with a cola!

Foreign Extra Stout available at my Whole Foods today! Never thought I'd see the day. Now the exercise will be to enjoy in moderation after waiting years for this to come to the US
