Can somebody decipher this fare code?

Well, it's an M fare, with no advance purchase. That's about the extent of my familiarity with fare basis. If you can give me a city pair, I can post the rules.

OT, what's the code used to put a long piece of text in it's own scroll box?

My guess is an M fare that books into First (A). That's what the "MA00UP" part implies--I can't figure out what the different letters at the end of these fares mean, though (e.g., what does "NA" mean versus "RJ" in the last two spaces).

The R in "RJ" is for Refundable or Un-restricted

Does the "A" indicate the true booking class of A? Possibly. Although other carriers' .UP fares don't use this convention.

The "00" likely advance purchase; in this case zero. So this is a walkup fare (subject, of course, to the inventory being available).

The "R" likely indicates refundable. An "N" in this position would normally indicate a non-refundable fare.

As for the terminating "J" this is pure speculation but it could have some internal meaning within DL Pricing in terms of alerting them to which pricing structure group it falls under (specific LCC fare structures, surcharge applicability, etc.)

M is not completely meaningless.

As many FT'ers will attest, M is significant, particularly in an Irop when you're flight cancels and the next flight is an RJ or sold out in F and DL rebooks you in Y and claims it owes you zero compensation for the down-grade. This happens at all the legacies that offer these UP type fares.

It was the OOUP that got me. I've had YUP, QUP, BUP but hadn't seen this one.
It's a MSY-ATL-MSY trip, booked for August.

But how is that any different than a BUP or KUP fare? It's the "UP" part that allows the above to happen, not the first character of the fare basis code.

M does indicate a price relativity tho, more expensive than a QH but less expensive than YB
