DL 148/149 Y Availibility Help
Hello All,
I just purchased two tix on DL148 (3/25) and DL149 (3/29). I cannot select seat assignments for my GF and I on either flight (Y). Can someone check to see if the flights appear to be oversold?

148 from JFK-FCO on the 25th is 9s across the board. 149 on 3/29 is zeroed out in T, but 9s in all the other buckets. Y seats show full for 148, but remember that some of those are just blocked for assignment at the gate.

Means that DL will be willing to sell at least 9 of each of those classes of fares. 9 is the highest number their system can/will report so it could be 9, 10 or 50 seat available

DL rarely does OP UPS unless coach is over sold.
If they do u will both need to be Platnium.
If u are both Platnium call up, and they may be able to get a supervisor to release some hidden seats.
There are few Business seats available on 149
A lot more on 148

Neither flight appears to be overbooked, but for some reason DL had completely blocked-off the seat map for DL148.
DL149 has 1 seat available for assignment.

FYI, availability of "9"s across aren't necessarily a sure indication that the flight is not oversold. Only someone from Delta who has access to the exact numbers sold can give a decent indication...
An example from my CAI-JFK flight last week. All the way up to a few days before the flight, availability was "9"s across the board except for the "T" and "U" buckets down to "5" (not 0). And then two days before, availability was "9" across all except for "T" which remained at 5 while U was upped to 9.
Day of departure, turns out that flight was so oversold that they had to bump 14 pax up to BE!
My guess is that 148/149 are at the oversold stage (or very close to it) for the Y cabin (this is JFK-FCO after all, which traditionally has had very very heavy loads for Delta in the spring/summer/fall)

If you call DL and ask, they have to tell you if they are oversold or not. They do not have to tell you how many under/over they are, though they sometimes do.
It may be that DL is contemplating an equipment change on this flight.

I called again. SMS says they are holding back 20-30 seats for gate assignment. Strange...

I'm in the JFK CRC across from Gate 6 holding BE seats for myself and the lady, courtesy of DL^
Gotta love DL! I must say, this Trip to Rome / MR, tuned out quite well thus far.
Two RT T Fares to FCO, $950.
Three nights in the Hilton Rome Cavalieri Hotel, 180,000 Miles.
An OPUP on a T fare, MR, with Cavalieri Mialage Award, and a Non Medallion companion (yet), PRICELESS.
I'm a happy camper today.
