I'd love to know when these will show up. Flight schedules after 6/8/06 show a total of 11 per day, not 13. Anyone know when these will show up?

THIS IS SAD. EVERY DESTINATION IS AN AIRTRAN DESTINATION. IT'S LIKE IN BANKRUCY THAT IF DELTA IS GOING TO LOSE MONEY OUT THE WAZOO THAT THEY'RE GOING TO TRY TO HURT AIRTRAN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IN THE PROCESS.

I LIKE DELTA, I LIKE THE NEW INTERNATIONAL ROUTES, BUT THIS IS A PURPOSEFUL MONEY LOSER FOR THEM.

...definitely a move against AirTran, which is their right, I guess, even as a bankrupt...hard to see any other grand strategy at work with the increases to places like Dayton, Bloomington, and Flint happening when there are no similar moves to Columbus or Nashville or Hartford.

I have been flying quite a bit between the Dayton-Columbus-Cincinnati market and Atlanta. Some interesting patterns:

- The Dayton flights are full on AirTran and on Delta. Lots of people I meet on the planes tell me they wouldn't normally fly from Dayton but the low fares cause them to drive there.

- Delta pinpoints AirTran's fares. Delta will match AirTran dollar for dollar UNTIL AirTran's competing flight on a given date is full. Then Delta ratchets up their fares to what they and the pilots' union wishes would be the "normal" level to fly in the eastern US--about $500-600 OW.

The next important piece of information will be how many of these new flights are RJ vs. mainline aircraft. This is where Delta's nose-to-nose competition goes sour in many of these cities, as the RJ "fill-in" flights cannot match AirTran's Business Class cabin (and price).

All of this was why the city fathers in Wichita kept subsidizing AirTran even AFTER Delta upgraded its RJ frequencies--the Rodney Dangerfield effect.

So, which markets are priced at $1,200 roundtrip from Dayton? And what does the pilots union have to do with it?

Actually, most of these capacity additions are much ado about nothing. Most of these markets had the same, if not more, capacity last summer. During the winter, DL made hefty cuts in these markets and is now restoring them back to where they were. This press release is really pointless.

Overall, DL will have almost 100 fewer flights through ATL this summer versus last summer.

It is worth for lot of the money $1,200 roundtrip from DAY. You even need take on FL to DAY. It is nothing best we can do for DL. It would able losing the money on DL to DAY. No matter what happen with DL to keep them their money.

Not pointless, it's positive PR (Joe Schmoe: Hey, they are expanding, so they must be doing good), vs all the recent negative PR (Online wannabe airline CEO: OMFG, their pilots will strike, their SOL!!!111!!)

Make that "almost 50 fewer flights". Last year, the maximum number was 1057 flights during May, and basically hovered around 1045 flights for most of the summer. And as given PR shows, this summer DL will have "over 1,000 daily flights" from ATL again. Nowhere near 100 less.

PR that no one reads. These types of PR releases are seen by hardly anyone. Except on websites like this which don't represent the majority of the flying public.

DL's PR from last year was 1,092 flights during the summer peak.

Yes, it is DL has been more than nearly 1,100 flights during in the summer peaks. Does DL this mean more than more new flights in/out from ATL hubs?
