Hey guys......dont make it nice-n-easy for the greedy .......s. Book the first ticket using your ff number (if you wish), but do not give it when booking your second ticket. Use your regular name in both cases or different initials (anyone can make a small error). Later copy the tickets, the boarding passes etc and submit for ff credit if desired. It works every time.

End-to-end ticketing is legal. If you don't submit your # for ticket #2 then you don't get the booking bonus, do you? (I think you need to use your # or you can't use the website.)

Or your second ticket could be on UA. Can't you earn DL miles for UA flights?

So, if i buy ticket A from DL and ticket B from UA then the trip is legal? I don't get this. Instead of taking my money DL forces me to give it to another carrier for exactly the same trip. Wouldn't it be smarter to accept the customers request?
And yes, here in europe it's common pratice to use back-back tickets if you have to go international with no minimun stay.

No base miles for UA flights. Forget back-to-back, go end-to-end and reap the status + bonus miles.

I got nailed by DL on what became a throwaway. A day trip BWI-ATL was about $1100, but I booked two nested trips, with the returns occuring several weeks later, which I inteded to use. The fare for the two trips was about $320. I was unable to make the second trip.
About 8 months later, I got a charge on my AMEX card for an ADDITIONAL $1300! (This was the max fare for the route.) After 6 months of disputing, I got my travel agent to eat the charge since they booked the tix in the first place and I specifically asked if this was legal.
There outta be a law. . .

One relatively simple way to beat the revenue cops on this kind of thing is easier if you collect miles/status in 2 programs. For example, I booked an advance purchase EWR-XXX, on CO, and midway thru needed to return 2 days early. CO would have made me upgrade to the Y fare ($600 extra) for the flight. I bought someone else's discount r/t promo fare XXX-JFK for $298, and ate half of each ticket.
Here, too, CO was matching the promo - and had seats open if I'd bought the r/t - but I didn't want to risk my silver status. So, I lost out on a couple of thousand miles, and they lost out on a couple of hundred $$. Since I've already cashed in those miles for a reward, unless the CO flight was sold out, who lost more?

Yes, they can get you for throwaway ticketing. However, if you fly all segments of an end-to-end, you're fine.

Another suggestion...
If you fly PHL-ATL often, buy a one way PHL-ATL, and then a series of rountrip ATL-PHL that would give a sat night stay. This is perfectly legal with all the airlines.
Example:
Ticket 1) PHL-ATL (Dec 15)
Ticket 2) ATL-PHL (Dec 15)
Ticket 2) PHL-ATL (Dec 22)
Ticket 3) ATL-PHL (Dec 22)
Ticket 3) PHL-ATL (Dec 30)
etc.

Since this is in the DL forum, I will say that based on anecdotal evidence from Flyertalk, DL is very vigilant about enforcing the ban on back-to-back ticketing. DL is definitely the last airline I'd try to get away with this on.
I just started working for a new company, and they us back-to-back ticketing sometimes, but they use US Airways and they haven't been caught ... yet. If it's me, I'm not risking my status/miles, and if I ever need to use back-to-back ticketing, I will just do it on two airlines ... there is no way they could catch you then.
As for having the mileage put in after the fact by sending in the boarding passes ... still sounds pretty risky with DL.
