Delta's Low-fare Airline Plans for 10 Additional Aircraft & Announces Expansion with New Service Between Hartford/ Springfield and Tampa and Between EWR & Fort Myers
Delta Express, Delta Air Lines' (NYSE: DAL - news) low-fare airline, turned four October 1st and celebrates its success by announcing more nonstop low fares to Florida and by planning for future growth.
Starting February 15, 2001, Delta Express will begin two daily round-trip flights between the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers and Newark International Airport. Additionally, on March 8, 2001, Delta Express will start two daily round-trip flights between Tampa, Fla. and Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Conn. and Springfield, Mass. Tickets for these flights are on sale now.
Delta Express also announces that between now and September 2001 it will add 10 additional 737-200 aircraft to its fleet, expanding from 42 to 52 aircraft. Delta Express started service on Oct. 1, 1996 with just 12 jets and 62 flights per day. Today, Delta Express operates 42 jets with 178 flight per day. By March 2001, Delta Express will operate 45 jets with 190 flights per day. By September 2001, Delta Express will operate all 52 aircraft. New service will be announced soon.
