Justin--I thought the same thing! I felt the gate agent was "simply confused" on which fare basis could and could not be upgraded. The letter from Delta consumer affairs states the agent was correct in not allowing the upgrade.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and I found a great deal on hamburger. 99cents a pound! Do you know that store would not upgrade me to prime rib! Can you believe that? I must spend thousands of dollars at that store each year. I am so mad. I think I will write a letter to complain.

Airlines, delis, supermarkets, roofing companies, ----What difference does it make if they have a "buy one, get one free" if you only need or want one?

You are all clueless. It was just a joke! Jeez...And you guys are the ones who need to get a life...you spend all your time on the internet whining on this page. And who is Randy? And you know..Delta has a wonderful disclaimer in its program guide (so would the store with the $10 hamburger I am sure) that says "Delta and its program partners reserve the right to change program rules, regulations etc...at any time without notice"
