The primary changes are that the ticket must now be ISSUED by the Delta employee, rather than just a certificate handed over to the passenger who tickets it themselves. This is being done primarily to cut down upon the increasing amount of S4 passes being sold to third parties.

Also, there are changes in the works dealing with unaccompanied S4 riders being allowed access to premium international cabins. The proposal is that they may ride in BizElite if and only if accompanied by the employee, not otherwise.

This will, no doubt, result in more empty seats that are still not usable for PMUs or mileage upgrades due to "catering" reasons. And, of course, SWUs have all expired by now...sigh.

Kudo's....It is about time. It is one thing for the Delta Family and Employees to have benefits. It should not be available to every Tom,Dick or Harry...or Sally, Jane and Ellen who happens to know someone at DL and can gravel for one of the Buddy Passes.

First of all, your premise is wrong. It's already illegal for Delta employees to sell their S4 passes, so this new rule is just trying to enfore that better. As
for you thinking that Delta employees should not be able to assign BUDDY passes to friends, that's just ridiculous, and it's not changing with this new rule anyway.

On Air France codeshares, AF will already not seat Delta nonrevs up front even though Delta nicely lets AF nonrevs in BE and even matches their priority status.

Unless you work for DL, it's really none of your business. None of these people take anything away from a fare paying passenger since they are almost the very last priority on the stand by list. I never understand how any of you people feel like it's your place to say what kind of benefits airline employees do or do not deserve. We all work hard for these benefits. In an industry where the pay starts out rather low, liberal travel benefits is the big draw for many people. Stick to worrying about your own company and what kind of benefits YOU do or do not deserve and let the DL employees worry about their benefits.

I'm very upset about the buddy pass ordeal. I give them all to my cousin and he visits 6 times a year. Instant cash for the company and he takes only DL Express. I have never heard about the fraud with the Buddy Passes. I hear just about everything and have never heard how rampant the fraud is. A few bad apples spoil it for everyone. Just to keep you updated on the latest base closings and displacements: Closing: MSY,SEA,ORD,IAH F/a bases) Displacing MCO (258 fa)LAX (150) DFW (500). It is making life hard for everyone and we are all very upset. Reserve in ATL in March will probably be at least 10 years, I can't live in Florida and commute to ready reserve. Displacement is getting kicked out of your home base and given what is available.

That is a Delta problem though, as the gate agents do make an exception to the rules in that case. AF NRSAs are supposed to ride in Y only based on DL policies.

If you want info on the new rules, just contact the employee who you're getting the pass from.

I am totally a computer idiot and would not know how to post the rules or a memo about this. I can help answer any questions you may have on the subject. They are a benefit to the company and to it's employees.
