schedule change - new flights

A 30 min. layover just doesn't work for me.
So started to rebook and paused when I noticed that the miles accrued is considerably different on the new flight than what one finds on gcmap.com
It "seems" to reflect the mileage I would have earned on the original flights.
Of course I tried to maximize butt-in-seat miles, hoping to reach the next MM level.

So -- is this SOP ? Do But-in-Seat miles ONLY accrue according to the ORIGINAL flight ?
If that is the case, I will just rebook the low mileage/fast flight and earn based on the orig flight that had the schedule change.

Thnx in advance for wisdom/experience shared.

Or is there another way around this ? The difference is 1100 miles.

Book whatever substitute flight you want as an even exchange. You will get the MM for actual miles flown on your new flight. Going after original routing credit is a long and tedious process that 99% won’t work. So simply fly the longest route you can find.

Are you confusing earned skymiles, which is based off spend, with actual flown distance miles which is not shown/listed during booking and that is what counts to MM status?

Your earned skymiles on a schedule chnage rebooked flight should be the same since it is based on what you spent on the original booking.

As noted above, it sounds like you are looking at the number below which is redeemable miles earned and based on spend. Million Miler miles are still based on distance and you will need to use tools like gcmap.com that you are familiar with to calculate those. Also, miles posted to your account in the Activity listings only show redeemable miles earned. There are no account activity listings for Million Miler miles (they used to be based on MQM earnings, but since there are no longer MQMs, there are no longer any activity logs for MM miles).
