Meal voucher for a maintenance misconnect $12 - used to be $15?

Had a misconnect (maintenance). Got a meal voucher for $12. I have old photos of meal vouchers in the past, captured for sentimental purposes, basically, and in 2017 and 2021, the vouchers were $15 each.

During those two years (with $15), and this year (with $12), I was not an elite at all. What gives with the reduced amount? Not trying to sound ungrateful, more of mystified. Especially considering inflation.

Well, considering how lunch/dinner are grouped in the same category on board in F, it should be as such with the meal voucher…$15 for lunch/dinner

After 8pm, not sure if that makes a difference.

Which airport? I have had different voucher amounts depending on airports as well. Last time I received a voucher was at ANC and they gave me two $20 vouchers.

MSP.

Incidentally, the $15 2017 meal voucher was at MSP (after 8pm as well) and the $15 2021 voucher was from ATL, not sure what time.

Interestingly as well, the 2017/2021 $15 vouchers were paper vouchers, while the 2024 $12 one was a digital voucher.

EDIT: I did a bit of checking, and a 2023 DTW (after 8pm) voucher was $15, so perhaps this was a recent downgrade/reduction?

DL gave us each $30 meal vouchers two weeks ago when we IROPS and had to re-route through ATL vs MSP.

Good luck getting anything more than a small amount/side of garbage fast food for 12 bucks in an airport!

I saw a Reddit thread yesterday on r/Delta with someone else reporting receiving a digital meal voucher for $12. They specifically stated dinner. Not sure if OP was the same as the reddit poster, haha.

Another great “enhancement” for Americas “premium” airline.

Definitely not me. Might be widespread. I wonder if DL will give elites more than $12?

Maybe this is also related to DL's massive pricing difference from basic econ vs normal main cabin on many leisure route flights out of MSP...

The $12 voucher would basically cover your tip in one of the ATL restaurants. A few years ago I had a long layover (4+ hours) in ATL and I went to Carrabba's in the C concourse to eat lunch. A small garden salad, entree and one glass of wine, with the tip, was well over $50.
