DL shows no F seats available, Expert Flyer shows one?

I'm sure this is some nuance I'm not aware of.
DL 732 on 11/1/23 from DTW to LAS
Expert Flyer shows seat 3D available.
Delta.com says otherwise (sold out) and I cannot even select the seatmap.

So not sure if it's a Delta issue or an Expert Flyer issue or some nuance I'm not aware of.

ExpertFlyer shows J0, indicating no seats are for sale.

Just because a seat is not assigned doesn't mean it hasn't been sold. At least one pax has no seat assignment.

Ah, I see. So the seat maps in Expert Flyer don't show "sold" seats, just assigned seats. OK, thanks!

So looks like you have to do a Flight alert (as opposed to a seat alert) and set it for Class Code J, and at least 1 available then?

Has nothing to do with Expertflyer. Seat maps are not an indicator of inventory. You can theoretically have an empty seatmap but zero seats for sale-meaning no one has an advanced seat assigned but all the inventory has been sold.

Thank you. I knew that was the case for economy (like BE or whatever where you don't get seat assignments) but I was unaware you could purchase an F ticket without a seat assignment on Delta. But I guess it's doable.

If you wish to be alerted when a seat is for sale, yes that will do it.

There are some international carriers who will actually sell the space but wont allow seat assignments far out. I believe KE is one of them-you can purchase Business/First 330 days out but cant get an assigned seat that far out.

Also some charge even for J seat assignments. KLM/AF recently went to this model. (But not for JV TATL routes/elites on other)
