Help Escalating...?

Hi,

I am Delta Platinum Medallion and flying Premium Select on upcoming flight (DTW -> ICN). According to this webpage I can check 3 bags for free:

http://www.delta.com/us/en/baggage/c...gage-allowance
"A Medallion Member traveling in Delta Premium Select can check up to 3 free bags at 50 pounds per bag"

When I call/message with Delta they say that my "routing" doesn't qualify. Is there a way to escalate?

In addition, I am traveling with 2 companions. But they were booked separately as they are flying one way whereas I am round trip. How can I get them added as traveling companions to my reservation? Again, Delta Customer Rep refused to help me...

Thanks!

Are you flying on DL or KE equipment? Makes a huge difference,

KE will honor your Plat status, but not the Amex card.

As far as companions, that gets veery messy and I have no idea what really works. On DL there is really no such thig as adding pax as "companions". You just have to do it with a human at the airport. You can have some agent "link: their tickets to yours, but that means little.

To make matters worse, I just checked a recent "international" flight (I am not sure if LIR is international in DL speak), and I only see one free bag allowed for me. I am also PM and Amex. I assume this is just part of the game played by airlines to game the DOT regs. In short, I do not think DL will give you legit answers on bags.

If you are on KE equipment you need to talk with them.

If you are on DL equipment they will take 3 bags of yours. I think (but do not know) the companions just have to be with you at check-in to get whatever benefit they are entitled to.

It is DL A350 plane departing out of DTW hub.

I think the combination of Platinum and Premium Select gets 3 free checked bags but the calculator doesn't say the same...

I'd use the baggage calc that links to your trip versus the standard allowance info. From what I see 2 bags free and a 3rd would be 200$ for a plat in PS for dtw icn. This is what the agents will see at time of check in also.
good luck.

Suspect the calculator is wrong and it's 3x for Plats in PS and 2x for non-status passengers in PS. FWIW, the DL Amex card is not a +1 luggage benefit (other than for Silver Medallions domestically) and has no bearing on flights where you already get at least 1 bag free. As already noted, there's no way to add, combine, or merge separate reservations. They can only be "linked" which doesn't really confer any benefits. It's only a notation on the reservations largely there to assist agents in keeping pax together when there are schedule changes.

Live chat agents are generally clueless, I wouldn’t put much stock in what they have to say.
