Bringing this up again for further clarification.

Basic Economy award fares are NOT refundable. Are they changeable? Any recent experiences?

Main Economy award fares are refundable and changeable for NO fee?

Thank you!

They are changeable with no fee until 12/31. Basic and Main Cabin award tickets can be redeposited for free.

Can someone clarify when cancelling a point reservation in Main are the taxes paid automatically refunded to the credit card or is there a choice to have them held as travel funds? I am asking because I have an Amex credit that this purchase will trigger and I am afraid if I have to cancel then a credit card refund could cause the entire credit to be clawed back. I would much rather have them held for future use.

Source please?

I am trying to decide between paying $49 for a BE fare and 4000 miles + $6. There is a good chance that I'll have to cancel. What I want above all is not to have to hassle to get the ticket value back. It looks to me like if I cancel the $49 revenue ticket, I won't get a refund, but instead a limited time, restricted-to-the- original-passenger-voucher. No thanks. OTOH, if I book even a BE award ticket and cancel (can it still be done online?) I get the miles back no hassle, along with the taxes.

Is this right? TIA for your help!

ETA: This datapoint at Reddit suggests BE is refundable: https://www.reddit.com/r/awardtravel..._award_travel/

Bringing this up again. Booking today for travel in February. Am I correct that Basic Economy ticket on miles would NOT be refundable but
Main Economy ticket on miles WILL be refundable?

Thank you!

Basic economy award tickets will have a redeposit fee/penalty. See discussion in the COVID-related refunds thread, posts 2253-2255: Delta: Refund/Mileage Redeposit/Cancellation/Rebooking During COVID19
