Admittance to United Club locations is permitted only at the departure and arrival airports for United, Star Alliance or contracted partner operated flights."

For UA you must be departing on UA or a *A partner to access the lounge at the departure point. Airports not in your itinerary with a UA/*A flight do not grant access.

Note that DL does have access restrictions for those with Skyteam Elite Plus status on international travel and are using their status for access (below). I believe you can access lounges at departure airports with non-Skyteam flights as long as you are connecting to an international Skyteam flight. Where it would be an issue is when you are arriving on a Skyteam flight as final flight or connecting to a non-Skyteam.

"Note: Skyteam Elite Plus benefits are provided only at the departure airport and not at the arrival airport unless connecting to a qualifying Skyteam flight"

To clarify, I only showed my membership card on phone and was never asked for or showed my boarding pass so they had no way of knowing which airline I am flying.
Sometimes I'd jokingly apologize for using the club but flying on AS and SC ladies will always welcome me in with a smile.

You have to have a same day BP or the computer must see same day DL flight in system. No just scanning membership card if system doesn't detect a DL flight in the computer that day.

You need to be a little more specific. Delta's policy formerly allowed access for Sky Club members with a flight on any airline (not just DL or partners). This was true even in 2017 when the AS relationship ended. It was only more recently (in 2019) that they required members have a same-day Delta or partner flight in order to access lounges. So if your flights were before 2019, the previous policy of allowing access with a flight on any airline was still in place.

I think Delta put this in specifically to cover AMS Crown Lounge 52, which is the one club that an arriving international passenger can access without having to reclear security. Prior to the imposition of this rule (most likely at the demand of KLM), I had availed myself of this lounge each of my three trips where I terminated at AMS. KLM has rebuilt this lounge, and it is now one of the very best lounges in the SkyTeam system.

Is it a DL rule or a SkyTeam rule? And wouldn't it also cover the arrival airport in any international itinerary that ends with a domestic segment? Just as examples, AAA-BBB-CCC where both BBB and CCC are in the US, or XXX-CDG-YYY where YYY is in the Schengen zone? Or just something like YYZ-US with pre-clearance.

It's a Skyteam rule, not just DL. From Skyteam website --

"Lounge access will be provided only at your departure airport and not on arrival, unless you are connecting to a domestic flight or other qualifying international flight."

This is hilarious all the debate on this... So my personal results are now in... Checked in at UA counter at SLC yesterday, went through security and headed right in to the SC. Agent waves me to kiosk, where I try my Diamond card from my phone on it (since I have no DL boarding pass)... Machine scans and says "See Agent".. Tell agent my DL flight is not from SLC but is later in the day. She doesn't bat an eye or ask any questions but has me scan in at the desk and says, "yeah, sometimes the kiosks don't always work right" and welcomes me to the SC. So - NO hay problema,,,, easy peasy..m

(Edit ) - Oh, also forgot to include that I even showed my UA boarding pass to the agent and asked her where the gate was (since I am still getting familiar with the new airport) - she walks me out the door and points to where the present use tunnel goes to concourse B, since the main one is not open yet and it is not that visible... She couldn't have cared less.... but that the SLC DL people for you - nicest in the system..

Great that it worked for you. However just because an agent didn't follow rules once doesn't mean they will again.

The system will see any DL flight that day, not just from that airport, as long as your SM is attached to reservation.

My guess is with as slow as things are, agents are just happy to have a customer for a few monitesminutes.

When I show boarding passes to SC agents, they barely look at the piece of paper, although recently I've been entering by fingerprint (CLEAR).

AFAIK there's still the landside AF arrivals lounge at CDG that I access when arriving on DL in D1.

Same here. Sometimes I get a raised eyebrow or quick laugh from the lounge agent; but usually once they've confirmed I have a DL flight (any DL flight) that day, they just waive me on it.

This isn't a things-are-slow-during-COVID thing. Pre-pandemic I often flew WN/UA one leg and DL the next or something; never an issue.
