I was in Comfort+ today and the middle seats were blocked. However, they made an announcement that somebody was sitting in comfort+ who wasn't assigned to that section because there was one person too many. Well, what happened is a guy got on the wrong flight!!! How could that happen? Wouldn't his boarding pass set off a warning when it was scanned? So, they escorted him off. That's almost like a security breach, especially since initially they were going to ignore the overage until one of the flight attendants was adamant about it.

Was the departure airport LAX by any chance?

It can happen when the scanner doesn't read the BP or otherwise causes a rejection. The TA simply glances at seat number on BP and mark's them onboard or if marked onboard just assumes it's an error and tells passenger to continue on. Happens more often on flights between the same cities.

The strange thing was that guy that was on the wrong plane was at least 10 gates from his assigned departure gate. Crazy.

Currently on a 767-300 in fc. Every single seat, except one that is blocked for some reason (maybe fa), is filled. Once it became apparent that the FAs were going to gab in the galley, mask wearing dropped substantially. I will actively book away from these planes in the future. Sitting next to a stranger who keeps wearing his mask below his chin while Intermittently coughing is at best unsettling. Especially after losing a 58 year old family member (perhaps 10 lbs overweight, but otherwise healthy) after a mere 5 days in ICU. For all of you who think COVID is overblown, I promise you, it is not if you get a full on version. And it is an awful way to die if you do.

It was my mistake to book fc on a 2 aisle plane. As I didn’t realize DL would sell every single seat in fc. But, Delta also made promises to enforce mask wearing and social distancing where possible. Out of the other 3 flights I’ve taken over the last 36 hours, only one came even close to doing what Ed promises Delta will do. The others just show what the real flight experience is vs the “theater” the Delta “Committed to Your Safety” is. I thought perhaps I just had lazy FAs. But after talking to workmates who have been flying since June, it does not seem to be the case. They said DL is definitely getting more lax. I’m still hoping I’ve just been unlucky. But, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice....

Personally, I don’t think you’re any better off in standard domestic F with the adjacent blocked than you are in D1 with all the seats filled. YMMV of course.

I feel ya. I've flown all classes in the last few weeks and one thing that is definitely noticeable is how quickly the FAs disappear to never been seen until it's landing time.

Well, at least you didn't have to hear a cat meow for 3 + hours straight. It was so loud they had to turn up the volume for all announcements to try to drown out the cat noise. Couldn't believe it. Everybody was annoyed. A very bad experience. I don't want to get off topic into animals, but they should be banned. That's all I have to say. Wish I was wealthy for only one reason....to catch a private jet away from all the craziness 😂

I was on a flight yesterday with a crew periodically going around enforcing compliance (nose and mouth.) One even had out her tablet and was referencing previous warnings. She addressed the guy in front of me by name, saying he had been warned multiple times on multiple flights and this was his last warning before being banned. I appreciated the FAs efforts.

One of the flight attendants on my SLC route had her tablet out and looked at it and then looked at me and called me by my name. Scared the crap out of me, because I was thinking she was going to ask me to volunteer to leave the plane because they were overbooked and I had booked last minute. But, she only told me welcome aboard and thanks for being a frequent flyer. lol

I thought that story was going to end with her inviting you to your new seat in 1A

Seems surprising to me that with all of the things that DL IT can't do these days that they would be able to have a log of people caught on previous flights wearing chin diapers. If they have figured that out, kudos!

What's happening with coach preferred seats for elites? I'm looking at mainline narrow body aircraft flights with 3-3 seating and it looks like all of the main cabin seats are the same color. IIRC in the past, some of the rear window and aisle seats weren't preferred (and of course the middle seats weren't preferred). Has DL abandoned the idea of saving coach preferred seats for elites to pick?

I would have spoken up, to the person directly and then to a FA. Offered him a cough drop as well, but he needs to keep his mask on or Delta would need to re-seat one of us. Now is not the time to be playing 'intermittent dry throat' or something else guessing games.

They are slowly scaling back seat blocking, especially in FC. By January I expect it to be eliminated completely. I believe UA just put out a ad highlighting hardly any risk of catching covid while flying, even on packed planes.

When DL updated their website last year to designate seats for each cabin by color, preferred seats are now shown as the same color as standard main cabin seats. The way to distinguish a regular Y seat and a preferred seat now on the seat map is to look for a triangular shaped figure in the top right corner of the seat diagram.
