Do Delta miles go on sale?

Sorry if this topic is covered somewhere.

Do Delta miles go on sale?
Looking to buy miles to get enough for a redemption but the current "non sale" prices are a bit high.

Thanks!

I don't recall ever seeing them on sale -- have you looked at Cash + Miles? It's not a great redemption value but the closest there is to effectively buying miles

Or if you have a DL Amex you can pay with miles.

You can buy RDMs in association with travel on DL. I think it's two cents per mile, with a minimum purchase of a thousand miles and perhaps in increments of one thousand.

From what I've seen: 1.5 cents per mile plus $14.99 service charge. 1000 for $29.99, 2000 for $44.99, 3000 for $59.99. I forget if the extra purchase gets recognized as an airline fee by Amex if your card reimburses such.

That's what I asked recently in the fee reimbursement AmEx thread, but no answer AFAIK. Someone there posted the price as $20 for 1,000 miles.

I wish we could buy MQMs for the fee credit; that could be useful for me, at least as rollover.

I seem to get emails about sales for UA and AA miles once a year or so. But can't recall ever seeing a DL sale.

If you Google buying DL miles, you can find some dodgy sites 'selling' DL miles at cheap rates. I don't want to link them here because I'm not so sure they are legit. At a minimum they are against DL policy.
