+1

Didn't DL used to say that MEM as a hub was safe? Where's MEM now? They can make a nice infographic to celebrate SEA's hub anniversary (cheap) and then make cuts the next Saturday if they wanted to. Would take what a company says with a grain of salt.

Strange as Delta took over the old North West routes from Tokyo. I would assume the real issue was the availability of flights from Tokyo to JFK or IAD or LAX where tourists and business travelers want to go and pricing with a connection can be fierce to make money on consistently.

Would you expect anything else? Seattle makes a lot of sense as a hub but the new SLC terminal is pretty great. Couples well with their airport geometry for short taxi, fast climb outs and light air traffic.
Still, Seattle seems more logical for most west coast traffic and connections, but local media and municipal tax breaks will make people say all sorts of stuff.
