Dont be rude.

Obviously with all the sand bags loaded in the nose it's going to want to pitch over on descent, and be harder to stop on the ground. Clearly the abundance of reverse thrust is to drown out the puddling sounds the cheap engines make.

He knows. He logs the tail numbers of all his flights.

Underseat storage in first class is absolute garbage. Can't fit my backpack (which fits underseat in every other plane I've flown on any airline) at all

Perhaps someone knows if its permanent, but I just booked a flight for early September and all of the SFO-SEA flights are now on the A220. Seems like a very good route for this plane, highly competitive with lots of folks who fly a lot who regularly fly it. I for one did not even bother looking at AS (nearly all 737s) or UA (a bunch of 737s and a few A320s with the worst slimline seats on any aircraft) and as long as its an A220 vs those planes, will happily give my business to Delta on this route. I can't be the only one...

I did log the tail numbers because I was so looking forward to A220, the avgeek in me...I have been on the A220 5 times since they started it at the west coast (SEA-SJC, SLC-SJC) and all 5 have different tail numbers. Just talked to a pilot the other day and confirm the sandbag thing I heard is true, and confirmed the jolting up and down of the forward cabin when they are closing up the cargo door is not my imagination and very unsettling for people...

I've been on at least five flights of the A220 and there is really nothing to worry about with this plane. Yes, it makes the sound of mating Orca whales when the engines spool up but with that giant, high-bypass fan, it's as quiet as can be once at takeoff thrust. I've never experienced a hard landing, though I would say maybe firm. As for sandbags, on shorter flight segments they will add these to many types of aircraft for balance depending on cargo for the route. This plane is a game changer and probably my favorite domestic aircraft.

Glad at least someone think the spooling sound is a bit weird. Sorry for offending those A220 lovers, I am a bit of Airbus fan, so I pains to said what i said.

For those of you still in doubt, just check out this video:

I have zero issue with the cabin, it's a new design - modern, efficient and comfortable. However, the USB port on the IFE in F on 2 of my flights were already damaged. I looked and the entire socket and pins were damaged, so much to the quality of Delta's own IFE design. AC socket wasn't providing juice either.

I am not saying A220 is a bad plane, I am just saying it doesn't have the fineness. Who says the Orca mating sound is normal with the recently known issue with PW1500G?

I have 2 more of these flights coming up. I will shoot some videos of these "uniqueness"

I just flew in F today SJC -> SEA, usually I fly Alaska on this route but when I saw the A220 I wanted to give it a try. Great aircraft. The take off is so quick feels like a rocket compared to the 737. I don’t recall the landing at all, so it couldn’t have been that hard. The inflight entertainment system and touch screw were great as well (I just played, didn’t watch anything). Gogo wifi was great and actually worked (unlike Alaska) I was able to work most of the flight.

I think my only complains is Delta doesn’t serve any hot food like AS does in first. Also, I had two glasses of wine (enough for me) but I heard the FA say they ran out.

If the times work I might fly Delta again next week and give it another try.

What time was your flight? This is a known exception route that should receive a meal in F during meal windows, and the A220s have ovens.

Officially it’s 3:59-6:12, although yesterday we took off over an hour late. Was pretty hungry, should have ate more before, I can only eat so many Kind Bars

Delays don’t matter for meal service unless the delay is long enough where they have to throw out the food because it’s been sitting too long. DL has a meal gap for flights between 900-1399 miles (or exception routes like this) for departures after 1:30pm and before 4pm, sounds like you just missed the cutoff.

Checked it on dl.dumb, and sure enough the 3:59 doesn't get a meal service. If they ever move the schedule one minute later, it should .

You think the cutoff should be 3:59 instead of 4:00?? What about 3:58 flights?

Oh I know!! Let's just make the cutoff 3:55 then. Perfect!

Oh wait, what about 3:54 flights?

Ok fine. Let's make it 3:50 then. Oh wait.

Yes, I was told by a Delta employee on a recent flight that this is permanent... The plan is to send all of the 717s to the East Coast and use 220s as the primary a/c on all West Coast routes. Some former E175 flights will upgauge and some 737 flights will downgauge. DL management feels this a/c is a game changer and the a/c alone is enough to steal significant market share from AS. DL feels AS is their ONLY competition on the West Coast and have observed that the public perception of AS's product has slipped in the last year. Because they feel the a/c can stand on its own as a marketing tool, DL also will be cutting amenities in time (such as exception meal routes).

My thoughts were that DL management is extremely arrogant and perhaps overconfident, but also that this strategy made sense.
