Delta to CZ, changing at HKG possible?

Hi all,

I want to book a ticket to HKG using Delta's flash sale. If I book Delta to HKG, then CZ from HKG to PEK using Flying Blue miles, can I check my bags all the way to PEK? Second question, can I get into the transit terminal without my HKG-PEK boarding pass, or will I have to exit immigration, get my boarding pass, and then go back in?

not familiar with DL or CZ, in general HKG only has one terminal (T2 is only for check-in counters) thus

1. check with DL if they have interline/check-through with CZ.
2. if no interline and if no bag, you can collect your boarding pass at CZ desks in transit area.
3. If you have bag, try CZ desk in transit area if they can help you re-checkin (CX did for me from BR)
4. otherwise you have to pass HK immigration to pick up bags and re-checkin yourself.

CZ and DL interline. However DL policy doesn't allow bags to interline to CZ when on separate tickets. Doesn't mean they wont, just they don't have to.

Note DL is ending service to HKG in a month or so.

CZ is not one of the airlines Delta will check bags across separate tickets to. Generally, it’s just the airlines they have a financial stake in or a joint venture with: https://pro.delta.com/content/agency...-policy--.html
  • Aeromexico (AM)
  • Air France (AF)
  • Alitalia (AZ)
  • China Eastern (MU) **1/26/2016
  • GOL (G3)
  • KLM (KL)
  • Virgin Atlantic (VS)
  • Virgin Australia (VA)

The one exception to this is a SkyMiles award plus a paid ticket. So if you were booking everything via Delta, they would let you pay for SEA-HKG and then use miles for HKG-PEK and would interline the bags. But because your second segment is Flying Blue mileage booked, no dice.
