Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

But look, if you don't want to use the door, then don't use the door. No law or commandment says you have to close the door. Seriously people, it's no big deal.
This is a really good point, and one I haven't thought of. The problem with herringbone seats is people can bump into the footwell (777) or headwell (A330) area, or people can invade the seat space when reaching for the overhead bins because of the way the seats are shaped. The straight line shape of the Vantage XL seats, along with the door, will reduce this.

I have not flown on the A330 J seats, but have flown twice on the 777 J seats (LAX-SYD and ATL-NRT). On the SYD trip I was able to get window seats in the last row of the cabin, which provide more privacy due to the closet. I think the potential for more privacy cannot be dismissed.

I have not flown the A350 suite yet - but I must say I did feel abit mislead when I first read about it. When I hear the word suite I think of singapore air and emirates use of the word "suite" - and the D1 suite is nothing like that.

I think there are far bigger things in life to get upset over, but those are my 2 cents.

Let's revert back to the original question - when will DL start refitting the big birds?

The door (and, of course that it is based on the Vantage XL rather than Vantage so it's more spacious) means no shoulder bumps for pax in the suites with the console next to the window (or console away from the aisle in the center pairs). It equalizes the suites, relatively speaking, so that you may not see as much 1-3-5-7 booked, 2-4-6 open like on 767s.

Interested to know this as well. Has the schedule of the 77L and 77W changed at all?

Isn't it the other way around, all the reviews i have seen say 3-5-7 are better as you are further away from the aisle. (Row 1 is not a window seat row, windows start at row 2)
I chose 5A for mine as it is further away from the aisle and any "bumping"

I've always considered this the advantage of having a door, so the seats closest to the aisle aren't the "bad" seats. I would actually prefer the seats closest to the aisle with a door because those seats have more storage.

I think what the poster meant was that the odd number seats would be already booked, and the even ones on the aisle the only ones open if you're booking somewhat late. With the door it shouldn't matter as much.

Yup. I was saying that I often see the odd J seats on the 767s full with many evens open before the cabin fills. The door will improve this for the A350 & 777 -- though I can't see any way DL could retrofit doors onto the smaller Vantage seat sets, so this will presumably continue to be an issue for the 767s. I like the A330 J cabin, and it so far doesn't seem that DL has plans to refit 'suites' there, right?

Not going to be a refit of the -300ER (W) seeing as DL doesn't have any

1) DL has not moved to a reverse herringbone model, (see the A330 and 747 seat maps) where pax in the center face inward an pax at the windows face the window, as opposed to everyone facing the aisle. This has a more private feel as opposed to feeling like you are kind of sitting in the aisle.

2) The seats are just starting to show their age. It is not infrequent for people to report seats have broken parts, etc.

If you have the option to fly on a A330 or 747 (while they are still around) instead of the 777, I would suggest you do. Many people would still say that the 777 is a better product than the 767. In any case, the 777 will not be a bad ride.
i still remember my first DL BE experience on the 777. Leaps above the old NWA WBC pods.

Those were at least angled-flat, no? DL was moving from standard recliners IIRC, so an even bigger improvement.

DL fleet newsletter (internal) lists that 777 cabin refresh has started with a prototype, ship 7004. All ER/LR ships will receive the modification, including D1 suites and Premium Select, as well as main cabin refresh to match the A350. New lavs, lighting, in seat power, the works.

Prototype ship 7004 is scheduled back into service 4/21/2018.
