I'm "lucky" enough to be on one of these in July for an ATL-LAX leg. Have RUC applied for both of us but not sure we will make it. The 2-side in EC+ is great, to be honest.

I'm worried that I have some ATL-ANC flying to do this summer in F, and the 763 domestic seat map is showing up.

Assuming there's no other plane available, seems like a decent route choice for a bad plane (long, not business heavy, kinda neglected, etc.) but ill have to switch to connecting flights if the domestic 763 is operating it. Nearly 3500 miles is FAR to much for those bad F seats.
I wonder what will happen to this route when the 763s go. A 752 can make it, but I bet this is not an insignificant DL cargo route.

I remember when I used to fly SLC-DFW on domestic 767's all the time. I miss those days.

Just flew ATL-ANC on June 5th on N140LL. Really wasn’t that bad. We did not get a PDB. They did follow FEBO. They were over booked and asking for volunteers. The offer made it to $1000 before they got enough volunteers.

They've used 752s in the past - albeit with 763s mixed in. I hope they would switch to 763 lie flat equipment, but one can dream...

I just noticed that SLC-HNL is switching to a 75H next April which has been on a domestic 767 the past few summers and A330 in the winter months. That’s quite the capacity cut on a route that is almost always full especially in the summer time.

Could just be a placeholder. That's a long way for a 752 without diversion points.

A 757 can make SLC-HNL easily. 757s have been doing TATL flights for years which are longer than SLC-HNL and UA has operated 757s from DEN to Hawaii before.

TATL is different, since there are diversion points along the way. You sure about UA using a 757 on DEN-HNL? Not sure that complies with ETOPS rules.

The issue isn't distance. The problem is diversion point.

If the 757 being used is equipped with the standard ETOPS 180 rating required for mainland-HI flights, I don't see what the problem is as 757s go from the west coast to HI every day so not sure what the issue is flying from SLC instead is.

They currently use the 757 on DEN-KOA/OGG/LIH.

It's the same distance for a 767, 777, A330, or any other twin-engine aircraft.

As long as the 75Hs are ETOPS-180, they can handle SLC-HNL just fine:

Still, that A330 on HNL-SLC in winter is just way better
