Delta's Domestic 767-300

I noticed that I got an update via email so jump on app and realized I will be flying from SFO-ATL on Delta's 767-300. I have done this before and assume it's the interior from 1988 which is great with the puffy and comfy seat(IMO) except everything else about the plane is just awful. The overhead bins fit one bag each. The screens are awful. Overall just bad.

Are these due to be phased out and thus Delta just doesn't care about them? I get them a few times a year on random routes and always seem to get an upgrade. If someone paid the cost SFO-ATL and was presented with this in FC it would be an unwelcome sight IMO.

Before assuming check, as DL has put normal (international) 767s on the route from time to time.
Are they still planning on converting some 763ERs over to a domestic configuration?

I think most if not all the regulars know that

per airfleets.net the active fleet is down to only a handful (N140LL, N1402A, N144DA); maybe someone with actual knowledge of the phaseout schedule could chime in

Copy.

Makes sense. It's years and years though which made me wonder about it. At least make FC nicer would seem smart.

Depends on which Superbowl... SLC-HNL still is scheduled to be a domestic 767-300 next summer.

2018, they should be taken out of regular ops by the end of the 2017, and act as spares until they go. I don't know if SLC is a 757/767 crew base anymore. They get maybe a dozen flights combined.

Retirement Dates as of Last Week
N140LL - feb 2018
N1402A - feb 2018
N144DA - oct 2017

It's my luck to be on one of these next week. May the SDC gods smile upon me...

I just flew one of these slc-atl today and it was definitely on the old side for the interior. I still like the 767 though. I remember when lots of domestic routes were flown by l1011 and 767s. Now we have to endure the crappy 737 everywhere. I avoid the 737's as much as possible.

Since most times I end up with upgrade I don't mind it. Usually seems to be a redeye and I like the bigger puffy seats. Since I'm asleep the rest doesn't mind. Just seems odd the interior condition overall and still flying them. I knew most 767 were slated to go away at some point didn't know when. So was asking if they were due for some sort of makeover before they go.

Guess not.

I actually like the 767 on domestic routes since I'm rarely in first. Two aisles and only two seats on the sides make this a rather comfortable experience for a 4-5 hour flight. They're rare to find now and I'll miss them.

N144DA is currently enroute from ATL>SBD. It's several years newer than N140LL and N1402A, so it must be some kind of MX check that it's due for, for it to be retired before the two older ships.
