Delta 5621. Why is Delta sending crj's to FLL? Trying to get them damaged in a storm and and get an insurance check?

So much for that final domestic 747 run earlier this week. They're using it DTW-MCO today.

Don't know when that SEA-MCO flight is scheduled for, but I would gladly bet you 100K SMs that it does not fly :-) SUN SEP 10 Rain/Wind 100% ENE 83 mph 91% Hurricane conditions likely. Chance of rain 100%. 2 to 3 inches of rain expected. SUN NIGHT SEP 10 Heavy Rain/Wind --74° 100% E 90 mph 90% Hurricane conditions likely. Frequent rain showers will be accompanied by heavy downpours and strong gusty winds at times. Low 74F. Winds E at 80 to 100 mph. Chance of rain 100%. 5 to 8 inches of rain expected. |

That's a good bet.
I'm flying in on Monday at 5pm. Hope the airport is open by the then, as I have to check on my parents and our rental properties. |

Based on current forecasts, Monday afternoon is supposed to be some of the worst of it for Atlanta. They are forecasting wind gusts of 80mph for Monday afternoon. I was supposed to fly out of there at 6PM and changed my routing. Best case, is that you'll have significant delays.

Had booked DL369 to ATL arriving Monday evening
Was strongly advised to rebook to Sunday Sounds like ATL is expecting a full operations stop |
I am doing MSP-ATL Monday late afternoon. Tried to change online travel dates ( after Sep 30), still tried to change me a change fee of 200$. I guess I will have to call.

I'm scheduled for LGA-ATL on Monday afternoon, arriving at 2:30 PM. Thanks for the heads up about trying to change online. I guess I'll call too.

We are planned to arrive in MCO Sept 19th for a weeks stay, I'm waiting for DL to return my call to speak to them, what's the chances that DL will allow us to change our destination city from MCO to say BOS? Not too sure what kind of condition MCO will be for visitors. I used my PLT certificate for this flight.

I know that there were some accusations going around about price gouging. I personally don't think there was ever any intention to do that and that that prices rose because the algorithm did not account for the storm.
I think it's really important to note that DL went above and beyond and did a public service by putting 747's on routes to evacuate Florida, and with very low price caps. There is no way that these routes are going to be profitable, so it really is a kind of donation of services, and they should be applauded for it. Were they motivated by publicity? Maybe. But the outcome is still the same, and it's an important outcome. |
