MCO has tweeted that they will begin limited commercial service tomorrow morning (9/12).

FlyerWx Sep 11, 2017 3:15 pm

The folks on DAL1294 had a nice 2hr 40min RDU-RDU flight

Ground stop now extended through 6:00 PM EDT... Given the crosswind components, low visibility, and low ceilings, I'm not surprised.

http://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/semap.jsp has some info with the expected reopening time of the FL airports if you hover over them.

Thanks to a schedule change a few months ago and what I considered a to tight connection from FCO to ATL I as able to change my FCO-ATL-LAX to FCO-DTW-LAX. If I hadn't I would be stuck in CLT right now.

I also saw a fairly long line at one of the re-accommodation stations in DTW a little over an hour ago too.

Also announcements in the terminal of gate holds in DTW on ATL bound flights.

For purely selfish reasons, I hope my flight from ATL is one of those limited ones.

Trying to get info on Spirit Airlines Refunds for a Hurricane Irma closed airport (FLL) for tomorrow, Tuesday, 9/12. Spirit has cancelled the flight from San Jose, CR to FLL and only wants to offer rebooking. That won't work for me as I have to attend a conference on Wednesday, 9/13 in the US. Saw online that a Fox2Detroit report said that Spirit is giving customers all options including a full refund but that has not been confirmed Help, please, with any suggestions.

Fly Delta next time!

Snarky jokes aside, this is the Delta forum...but you're not the only one to wander into this thread thinking it's for all airlines. My understanding with Spirit is that a blood sacrifice on a full moon will be necessary...oh, wait, there I go again. Your actual best bet is probably going to be to take it up with your credit card, knowing how Spirit has tended to (mis)behave.

Well my OMA-ATL and ATL-FLL flights for Tuesday still show as on time, but who knows if that will hold up. I imagine Delta will have a ton of backlog to deal with. Finally got a complimentary upgrade to F too, don't cancel on me now Delta I rarely get complimentary upgrades in/out of ATL!

As long as it holds up as on time, I'll take it and then keep my FLL-ATL-SLC flight(s) for Friday. It appears that my home has power and the damage isn't too bad (fence blown down and debris everywhere) but all things considered, came out fine.

Reporting back from Fort Pierce, FL.
Have been without power since 10:30pm last night. About the time the worst winds were passing through.
Hopefully sometime tomorrow.

I hope they're fighting tooth and nail for their 984 MQMs ;-)

We need A380's flown into Florida. We need C-17's deployed to assist with people who need to get out now. We need the national guard deployed. We need the Navy and Marines with their amphibious ships and helicopters in there to save lives and animals.

Glad to hear that your okay. Here in the MCO area about 2/3 of us are out of power. Somehow I never lost power (was out for almost a week during Charley) but still have minor damage with part of my fence falling down a a small tree that fell. There is some flooding in the Orlavista and Altomont area and several trees down in Conway (they got hit bad in Charley so not surprised). I live right by MCO and I saw a B6 plane landing tonight that was a ferry for RON. DL cancelled all flights tommorow morning that typically RON in MCO.

Any joking aside, it strikes me that FL very much needs to have a plan for utilizing the metric ton of TATL aircraft in a situation like this (preferably in some form of collaboration with the carriers in question). Notwithstanding the dodged bullet that SE Florida managed, there really should be a plan to press those planes into service to/from some of the other major southern airports (ATL, CLT, and RDU being the most obvious candidates). Yes, this should be at taxpayer expense (not the airlines'...hell, I'd like to see DL be compensated for any losses on those 747 flights since as near as I can tell the r/t probably cost them between $50-100k), but it really should still be a thing, since a BA 747 or a Thomas Cook A330 is a better use of a slot out of FLL, MIA, or MCO in a case like this than is a Delta Connection regional jet.

I don't think the federal government is taking this seriously. I could be wrong in my opinion but just an observation.
