HND to NRT transfer questions

I'm looking at booking a trip to Asia and the only routing I can find with OP availability has me connecting in Tokyo, but into HND and out of NRT. A few questions:

1. If you're in J (specifically OP), does Delta provide complimentary transfer between the airports?
2. The connection is a hair under 4 hours; this strikes me as rather short for a connection that includes a change of airports. It's being sold as a single ticket so there's not any financial risk of missing the connection -- only the inconvenience. Any experience here transferring from HND to NRT and how much time one should allow for a connection?

4 hours is doable. I would take the train, but there's buses and limos. No Delta doesn't pay for the transfer unlike LGA/JFK where they do.

Are you saying that this can be done w/o having to deal with immigration? or were you saying one could get from HND to NRT in 2 1/2 hrs NOT including time in line with immigration?

I did it going through immigration at HND then going to NRT via train in roughly 2 and 1/2 hours.

Take a longer connection if you can, and have a nice meal in Tokyo Plenty of luggage lockers in Tokyo train stations.

FWIW the MCT in EF is 3.5 hours. I looked at a few of the recent Google results for "site:flyertalk.com connection hnd nrt" and the consensus seems to agree that 4 is sufficient and 3 is probably not advisable.

Here's an excellent primer on transferring from HND to NRT:

At some point a bright entrepreneur will establish a reliable service between the airports. Airport Express only goes certain hours and the trains can be a pain to deal with.

If it were me I would probably take the airport limousine bus. Changing trains in central Tokyo if you are not familiar with how it works is not easy. And it's not cheap at all.

Yup, MCT is 210 minutes - 3.5 hours. Having done it a few times, I'd definitely try to extend this time as it takes me an average of 3 hours via train plus the deplaning, walking, security, etc. Throw in some delay (either in the air or on the transfer) and your margin for time can be eaten up pretty quickly:

Of course you have to transport the bags. How do you think they get between airports?
