KE Seat Assignment on DL Codeshare?
Planning a trip with my son to BKK in April. Quickest outbound flight is DTW-ICN-BKK, but DM Line says that they can only request seats "near front or aisle" but no guarantee of response or seat commitment from KE. I've had good luck on KL and AF with twitter contact and getting confirmed good seat assignments as DM, but haven't flown KE before. Any advice on how to get a seat assignment on KE? Alternative routing is through PVG connecting on MU.

Call KE. They will assign the seat. IIRC, you can't get a seat more than thirty-something days before the flight, but as long as you are in the window and a G/P/DM it only takes a minute. You'll need the KE reservation number or your ticket number. I've flown that route at least a dozen times and never had a problem getting a middle aisle seat.
A couple other things... If you are in J, you will get a card allowing you to use the expedited immigration line. As a STE+, you are eligible to get the card, too. Sometimes they forget to give it to you in coach, so ask if you are in coach. But, sometimes the regular line is shorter than the expedited line. They are next to each other. If the expedited line is long, just go to the other line.
And going through ICN beats going through PVG for so many reasons, and the KE flight is much nicer than the MU or FM flights. The only exception to that would be if you want to tour Shanghai for a couple days while you are flying through. You can stay for up to 144 hours without a visa.

Just a word of warning, KE is listed as a group 4 partner. I was recently re-booked on a KE flight from JFK-ICN, and while I'll agree that flying KE was amazing, I received 0 MQMs for the privilege...

This was a KE coded flight, though? If you had been rebooked on the codeshare, it should have earned MQM, I thought? (And hope, having just been rerouted from YYZ-MSP-SEA-HKG to YYZ-ATL-ICN-HKG with the latter two segments on KE-operated DL codeshares because of a big ol' Schedule Change Saturday moment.)

A ticket issued by DL (006) and a DL flight number should get you full credit. A ticket issued by DL but no DL flight number gets you whatever's on the chart.

Defintely call and call again if they cannot/will not help you.
I had a re-route when they cancelled their BKK route.
KE was GREAT - coach was easily comparable to C+ on DL space wise - I actually think better and the service was outstanding.
When I returned everything posted to my account was wrong. I had to call in twice.
They finally updated my MQM's, (total of 19K+) MQD's and the MQS to the correct amounts. Hang on to your original confirmation and ticket number.
As far as booking seats - I was able to do that a few months in advance, by calling KE - only down side was/is exit row they only do day of and AT the airport.

Ask Delta (I use Twitter) for the KE confirmation number - it's different than the DL number. You can then login to the my trips section of Korean website and do a Reservation / Ticket Search to choose your seats. I fly them frequently (although, granted it's in J class) and am always able to choose seats months in advance.

Need advice. I'm searching and searching for info on KE seats when I buy up to a C+ on a TPAC to BKK. KE has a "Prestige" class but I can't see it equals C+. If I buy this RT, do I only get C+ on the DL segments, and have to choose exits or other on the KE?
