Open seating on NYC/DC shuttle?
Is this still a thing?
If there is, do they still board diamonds, sky, zone 1, zone 2 or is it basically just a free for all.
I fly LGA->ORD all the time but taking my first DCA trip in a couple of weeks. On the 545am flight so would ideally like to leave my place at 5, get to the airport at 530 and be at the gate at 535, but if that means i'm stuck in seat 17D i'll allow an extra 20 minutes.
Thoughts?

A couple of weeks ago I got to the taxi dropoff at 7:43AM for the 7:59AM flight, and still got through security and onboard in time for a PDB.

That's what I thought, the app let me choose seats but i've googled and uncovered stuff as recently as last year saying open seating.
Usually take Amtrak to DC but for a 1 day trip I think the shuttle is the way to go. Do love the ease of the Marine Air Terminal for my Chicago travel.
Will be a sad day if/when they move the DCA/ORD shuttles to Terminal C with the BOS shuttle.
