Just started looking at award tix to SYD from US late in 2016. Pricing out at HUNDREDS of thousands of miles on DL and nearly 200K miles on partner carriers in the front of the bus. Interestingly, seat maps show no seats occupied on the DL flights.

Seriously DL, if this is how you're gonna reward loyalty I and my $50K annual spend are outta here. I think I hear AA calling my name.

I am so glad I pulled the trigger last year JFK-SYD for 2 in J at low that I am taking in 3 weeks. I had a feeling it was getting to the point I would never see that again.

Flying Quantas when there.

I also saw on the AA forum that AA has released a ton of seats on their new LAX-SYD route, sometimes 4-6 seats per flight.

Bummer. Was just on pace to hit the mark I needed for two tickets this coming spring when the booking window would open for a trip to AUS/NZ in Spring 2017 (Fall in the southern hemisphere). Now needed an extra 60K miles will mean either
1) forking out over $2K in cash
2) convincing my wife to get a DL Gold AmEx with a 30-50K sign-up bonus, then transferring me those miles (would be cheaper than buying)
3) Buying a leg one-way in J on the same flight, which wouldn't be the worst thing, as it would at least mean MQMs for part of the journey, but might still be expensive and more than I want to spend depending on what it prices to.

I forgot option 4: get some complaint miles. 4 complaints x 15,000 miles per complaint should get me that 60K.

Higher award prices on KE too being reported on the SM Partner thread too. Now it's no mystery to why the charts disappeared.

90K in business class? Shoot, anything I ever looked at in Australia, the rest of the Pacific Islands, and half of Asia wanted 300-400K per person in J. Same for the Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Doha area, as well as South Africa.

October sees DL40/41 LAX-SYD-LAX for 750k points in Business!
(Cabin on the flights appears almost empty!) (Fri Sep 30/Oct 16 return).

That's a clear - please go away we don't like you kind of number from Delta.

Yup. I've been a charter DM and I see no reason to shoot for DM status for next year. By the math of earning miles as a DM and no credit card use it would require I spend $136,363 to get enough miles for me and Mr. SOBE ER DOC to fly in business on awards.

I may send a letter of protest to DL on my way out the door because this is complete bullsh@t. If I could cancel my trip to DOH next week on KL I would.

Well cabin almost empty doesn't mean anything this far out, as we know lots of J seats go at the last minute. That said, it's pretty clear the new model is "pay us cash, or pay us the mileage equivalent in cash, or maybe wait until the last minute and if we can't sell as many as we thought we might offer medium tier instead of high".

All perfectly reasonable from the perspective of the business. All perfectly reasonable to find other international carriers from the perspective of the consumer.

Does KE publish award charts for their members?
