Upgrades and Standby at MCO
Traveled MCO-ATL Thursday evening. 8 Open F seats prior to boarding. 4 were filled. Boarding starts with 4 still open. As a silver elite, I was not on the upgrade list (a different story in itself), so this thread is not about missing the F upgrade; it's about the timing.
Due to this, several Comfort Plus seats opened up after SKY and Zone 1 had already boarded - when the final 4 were finally upgraded. Those were filled with pax on the standby list.
Is it just me, or is this really unfair for all of those elites that could have had a Comfort Plus seat?

Sheena is a punk rocker....
I'm sure the non-revs enjoyed upgraded their families on the return flight from Disney. Then again, maybe there were no other medallions on the flight??
You didnt explain why as an FO you werent on the UG list. For that alone i'd be complaining to DL. MCO routes are some of the easiest upgrades.

Did you ask why you weren't on the upgrade list (were you on award ticket perhaps)? Did you make it known to the GA that you would like a Comfort+ seat should one become available after they processed the upgrades and before they processed the standby's? As discussed in another thread, there is no upgrade list for Comfort+ or automatic upgrades to it. Unless you made your wishes known and were denied, I'm failing to see the issue here.

I made the wishes known to the GA. There were 14 on the UG list with 8 open 5min before boarding.
As far as the upgrade list, no one could add me (V fare). I still haven't gotten an answer after talking with twitter, DL agents at MCO help desk, DL phone agents, or DL gate agents. DL phone agent gave us two $50 e-vouchers for the ATL-MCO flight due to the same issue. He checked us out of the flight and had us check back in to try to correct the issue for MCO-ATL but didn't work and told me to see the gate agent. Gate agent blamed it on the fare class. Went back a few minutes later, after seeing I still wasn't on the list, and showed him that V fares are upgradeable. He just smiled and said "ok" and did nothing else. That was the same agent that said "there might be one" Comfort Plus seat that opens up when I asked about moving up. There were about five.

Again, the post is not about us not being upgraded to F. That's entirely separate issue I'm waiting to hear back about from DL. The issue/question is the timing of processing the upgrades and leaving other elites out of luck with respect to being able to improve their elite-eligible seat. I was under the impression that these should be processed before boarding actually takes place. At least that's what my experience has always been.
