G Availability Strangeness

G Availability Strangeness

G Availability Strangeness
So I'm booking R/T ATL-HNL with connections @ LAX. I go onto FlightStats, find G9 for all 4 flights

Book trip online, call DL to use SWUs for trip. Agent says that only the over the water portions are available, and ATL-LAX/LAX-ATL has no open space. I get waitlisted.

Go onto FlightStats to check the desired ATL-LAX/LAX-ATL flights (with no continuation to HNL) and it shows G0.

Thoughts on why this is & how to remedy?

G is a FC fare, has nothing to do with SWU availability, that is RP/OP which DL has prevented third parties like EF from viewing.

Interesting, was going by my old site for fares, which shows it as an upgrade: http://www.cwsi.net/delta.htm

2-3 years ago, DL changed the fare class representing upgrade availability from G/Z to RP/OP. As BusTrav8yrs said above, RP/OP is not visible on FlightStats or anywhere else.

Now G is deep discount FC and Z is deep discount business class (including BE).
