PM choice is only 4 regionals, not 8. The upgrades are one option that are much better for DMs. Compare that to miles which go from 20k for PM to 25k for DM.

Choice Benefits for DMs:

If offered, would take 8 GUCs, rather than Skyclub membership.

You are a little confused. It really is not the Plat gift for 8 RUC's, its one of the choices as a DM but if you pick them you cannot pick the GUC's so options are:

When reach PM 4 RUC's
When reach DM either 4 GUC's or 8 RUC's

so as a DM you can have 4 RUC's and 4 GUCs as an option or 12 RUC's if combining your choices for UC's for PM and DM
